LMT SOPMOD prices and sources
I know we are not permitted to post eBay links here but I have to ask....
When looking at prices of the LMT SOPMOD buttstock I see a WIDE variation in price. Directly from LMT (although out of stock) they run over $200. Then I find on eBay stocks listed as the LMT are $105 - $125 new shipped?? What the heck?
Are they knockoffs? Defective stocks???
Any thoughts?? I can PM links if that helps. Thanks!

From what I have read, the knock offs are NOT worth getting. The fit and finish is iffy. B5 systems is the current mfg of the stocks for DOD and they are MUCH cheaper than LMT. If you hear of "old" B5 stocks, don't buy them either. They had a run of stocks a while back that don't fit correctly. The specs they were given were wrong. The stocks were to be destroyed but some how got in the supply chain. Damage Inc. makes their version called the ECS. I own one and like it a lot.

Most of these are B5 mfg. list is $120 from what I'm seeing. 105 to 125 on eBay. No way of knowing if those are the "bad" ones. That's the only problem with SOME eBay sellers.... Hmmmmm.......

LMT SOPMOD prices and sources
After reading your post Kodiak I researched a bit. B5 is actually a fairly local company to me in Ohio...go figure. lol have to support local business!
Rainier Arms sells the B5 SOPMOD for $99. That's cheaper than eBay and I doubt they have the old stock.
Overall reviews of the B5 vs the LMT show two minor differences... LMT cheek weld surface is slightly smoother and the LMT adjust lever is slightly more ribbed. Seeing how B5 is the new contract MFG for the Army and the reviews are basically identical I'll take 1/2 price! $200 vs $99?? No brainer. :-D

I keep thinking I want one of these but I have always wondered... Why did they make it where you have to take the stock off to access the storage compartments?
On the cheap saddle device that I bought just to see if I like the feel of the cheek weld, they have the compartments accessible from the rear of the stock. No removal required. Seems like a better design to me.

B5 also offers the Bravo stock, which is the SOPMOD stock without storage compartments. That one is less than $60, if you can find one.

I don't mind that storage situation because I probably will not use the storage. I agree it doesn't make a lot of sense... I'll look for the bravo. Thanks for the tip! If I find one I'll post it here.

Thats not a bad stock, I hadnt looked at them before. I dont need the storage but my Sport is running the factory stock and I am researching what I want to put on it. I had a magpul CTR on my other Sport but I am open to change, and am actually thinking about going with a fixed stock. My dream stock is the FRS featureless stock.

Found a bravo here...
http://www.predatorarmament.com/b5-s...-sopmod-stock/
According to the website it's lighter (no storage???) but also SMALLER. Not sure how I feel about that since the original SOPMOD design is so loved. Food for thought however....

From what I have been researching Grover the SOPMOD, Ti7 and the magpul ACL are the most highly liked IF you want more cheek purchase. The GX? If you want a riser.....

Here's a review I saw... he does mention that the Bravo is a little thinner, but from what I have read, most say that it still gives a good cheek weld.

Yes. I agree with you. I am always learning something from those guys as well. I do like the Acog that zip has. That is nice. I have been following you guys on the buffer spring thread as well as the reloading thread too.

I'm happy to help when I can but I must give much of the credit to Grover, JaPes, maddmax, BHarada etc etc as much of what I know I learned from them. That - and being in IT - makes my skill of finding legit info out there so much easier. That article I found on sporting rifle scope selection was invaluable in my selection.
Karma you are still an evil evil man! LMAO. I guess the good news is I can slip a new trigger in and my girl will never know I spent the money. Ha!!

Just as an FYI, $125 and under is BELOW dealer price. So unless someone seperately wants to get rid of one, that is a fake.

B5 systems aren't "knock offs" of the LMT's. They are current .Mil stocks.
$95 is retail on them.

First you said cheap, now you say fair?
Tell ya what, I was thinking of this for my son's M&P 15-22, but I don't know what he would like. Don't hold it on my account, as I am tire kicking right now. Really leaning towards the SOP MOD for myself and the Bravos for our .22lr's, but, like I said, I am cheap...

FYI, on the TI-7/Damage USA ECS stock you don't have to remove the stock to get to the stock compartments.

Cool! I'd much rather your son use it than have it sit in some box collecting dust. I'm thinking it will fit in a small USPS box too so shipping will be fast and only like $5 or $6.
