Solutions to Bullet Button
I know there are options out there for us Californians that have to suffer the bullet button, such as Raddlock and the UBBT. But beyond those, what solutions have you come up with besides keeping a bullet in your pocket?
Here are two of mine:
Magpul dummy round with velcro wrapped around and the other half of velcro on the stock.
Magpul dummy round with hole drilled through and wrist strap attached.

I would just pick up 22LR cases at the range and keep them on the bench while I shot.
But my current solution to the problem is to go featureless and dump the bullet button altogether.

I know a guy that took a small magnet and put it down in the button. He told me it stayed there perfectly. He bought a bag of magnets at the local craft store. I think he might have ground off a little to get it to fit.

When I leave Ca and go to America, I use a neodinyum magnet; grade 54. Barrel magnet, 1/4" diameter, usually a 3/8" length does the trick. It's faster and easier than disassembling and resetting the ********* button. ( Bullet buttons are notorious for getting loose without the use of loctite. And then heating up to break the loctite is a drag, and takes more time you don't need to waste.)
K&J magnetics. These little magnets are pretty cheap, and are the strongest magnets you can buy.
It works out very well; just hunted all over Texas for hogs last week, and never lost a magnet, and it made mag swaps a sinch.
When I leave America and go back into Ca, I just remove the magnet and store it in the cabinet.

And there is your answer from someone else. Good job and thanks for verifying that it works.

Bill, this rifle looks like something out of Star Wars. I know I said in another thread that the stock was ugly, but I like this...guess it is growing on the geek in me.

Where is Wyliey, Tx? I just drove thru the whole dang state, and I missed you! (Seriously, cam in on the 10, up the 20 to Possum Kingdom for Easter (Fishing), over to Mineola (Hunting), down to Seabridge to the Space Center, across to Houston, down to Lake Jackson/ Clute. Hunted there. Killed several nice hogs down there... Over to San Antonio, down to Pearsall- kocked the hogs out of the park in Pearsall. I think I am in love with that place!!
Then, up thru Kerrville, and out.
How on earth did I not run into you???!!! (Man, Texas is a big, big state. I think I found myself a spot on this last trip...... Time to stack cash and farm equipment up.)

Wylie is northeast of Dallas, due east of Plano. Once a small farming town, now is suburbia. Sounds like you had a great trip!

But seriously I've heard the high powered magnets work well I don't have to use them but read where others use them with good results.

I have used them in dynamic training, where we are running up hills while taking fire (Paintballs) and all over from here to there and back. Our instructors liked the way they work out, and so did several students who were from Ca. and did not change their rifles. As one said; it's like the perfect fix.
The brush hunting with the BM308 was incredibly tough; running thru brush pushing hogs, then getting shots on the open fields. I lost 2 magnets while doing this: The 2 were the backup magnets I put in my pants pocket and shirt pocket.
The one on the rifle stayed put the whole time!

I've used two of the tricks combined. A .22 lr seems perfect to fit into there. So I superglued a magnet that fit into the 2r (from the end of a computer tech screwdriver). That way, when the sheriffs wagon out on the ranch comes by, I throw it on the ground and forget about it.

Does the magnet disable it? Please forgive my ignorance, I live in America.

Yes, by adding the material needed for a magazine release to function. The CA bullet button is made of a housing that fits where the regulate release would be. It cannot be moved. Inside the housing contains the actual release, and it is recessed about a 1/4 inch. So putting a magnet in there would make the difference.
