Good price, or wait some more?
Does $850 for M&P 15 Sport sound good, or should I wait a bit longer?

Lanbo's armory apparently had some at $636.XX yesterday. OOS now.
It's obviously up to you, but sportsman outdoor superstore has the M&P15OR in stock now at $949 too.
I paid quite a bit more for my OR!

Would go for it at anything less than $850 or wait 6mos for everyone who bought one in fear to start selling at reasonable prices. $850 is not bad though. Get it.

I paid 839 so it doesn't sound too bad.

Sounds good to me. I just paid 1089 for my OR 3 weeks ago. I do live in California though where they don't do us any favors.

I'd wait. It's high and Sport's priced at that level are sitting on shelves. So are OR's at $850 and Magpul kiddies at $1200.

I'd wait. My LGS had them on sale for $699 just last week, but they normally go for $770. Since the panic is subsiding prices are dropping, but some places are slower than others to adjust. I'd wait until you could get a Sport somewhere in the $700 range.

Wait a little while longer and you can get a better rifle for that price.

Kittery Trading Post just got in a shipment of Sports today and has them on sale for $699. They'll ship them to an FFL so if you want one you might want to give them a call.

Please define "better". What rifle in particular are you speaking of?

Yes. I'm interested what "better" means. I love the vague and ambiguous replies from the net ninjas.

IMHO
I would be willing to pay a little more for the Sport IF IT HAS THE OLDER 1:8 5R BARREL.

Wow that's a great price. I paid 839 for mine about a month ago. And by "better" I think people just mean "cooler". I mean really, what are we going to try to do with a Sport that it can't do? It's probably the best gun for the money.

Better, meaning a rifle that has more factory upgrades. Didn't mean to offend

So, by "better" you actually meant features like the dust cover and the forward assist? Maybe not "better" but more of a standard featured rifle?

M&P 15 Sport
Just an FYI for comparison ... I saw an M&P 15 Sport for sale at a recent gun show (April, 2013) for 975.00. It had a 2x42 scope attached and came with 1 30-Round (used) magazine.

As of yesterday (5-2-13), Fin Feather Fur in Ashland, Ohio had them for 749.00.
Depending on your market area, I would say wait.
