Default Big Guy Help

Just bought my 1st M&P 15. Longtime gun owner but this iks my first AR type weapon.
Mine has the 6 setting adjustable stock but fully extended I could use another inch or so.
I'm willing to use a recoilr pad or swap stocks.....
Any recommendeations to get a better fit
Thanks
Jack

I had the same problem with my 15 OR and replaced the stock with a Magpul ACS-L. It is about an inch longer than stock and offers a great cheek weld and tight fit. I also added a Magpul Enhanced buttpad which added another 1/2". Its an awesome set-up for me for about a $125.00 investment.

I gotta ask, in the words of Roy D. Mercer, "How big a boy are ya"? I don't think I have ever seen anyone who needed to lengthen the AR past the last slot on the adjustable stock? Are you shooting with a scope and wanting to move it due to eye relief?

I'd like to see a pic when you get all the Magpul goodies installed

I'm 6'3 but I think I have long arms. When I put the butt to my shoulder it feels like my rear elbow is pushed back to far.
Gave it the old hold it by the pistol grip and see how it laid on my arm test and it had a good two inches between the butt and the crook of my elbow.
Maybe I'm just getting old and my joints dont want to bend that far any more ???

How much have you shot it? Is it uncomfortable? Just curious, I've seen many people put all kinds of accessories on a firearm before they fire it so they can't tell if they made any improvements or not. If I'm going to change things, I change one thing at a time to determine if it's an improvement, if it isn't, it goes in the "for sale" box. If you change 2 things and your shooting improves, you're not positive which change helped (or hurt if it gets worse).

I'm 6-3 with 34" sleeves. I find myself shortening the stock by two notches when firing the gun with a winter coat on. During the summer the fully extended stock fits just fine except when I'm in a sitting position. Then the stock gets shortened one notch.

Most people think that an AR should fit like a bolt gun. The correct position for shooting the AR is different. That's one of the reasons that a cantilever mount is used for mounting a scope.

Its uncomfortable. I spent 12 years in the Army so I was use to the M16,but that was 25 years ago. MichiganScott may be right... I'm use to my shotguns and Browning X bolt.
I dont plan on adding a bunch of accessaries. I just want it to feel good.
I'll play with it

You're going to love that stock! I have very long arms myself and the extra inch and a half made a huge difference for me. Let us know how it goes!

Bushmaster makes a slip on recoil pad that adds about an inch, and allows the gun to stick to the shoulder better under rapid fire. Shown on one of my AR-15's
