A program about the AR 15 tonight 25APR13
Saw a note about a news program on CNBC tonight entitled "The Rise of the AR15". I believe that it is on at 10PM(est/pst) or 9pm (cst). Don't know anything more about the program. Just passing along the info.

Suppose to be an un-biased view of the rifle. Also has a Cody Wilson interview (the guy who is designing plastic, untraceable lowers). Should be good. I'll have the salsa and chips ready for this one!

IF a person can afford to buy the 3D printer and make their own untraceable lowers, by all means "more power to them". But that is by no means the cheap or easy route. Check out the links below.

I think they compared it to a BB gun or maybe an air soft gun. If they think a .223 is destructive, i'd hate for them to see what other bigger AR calibers can do out at greater distances.

That show was so left handed i couldn't stand it. Really an AR15 was used in Newtown! No it was found in the trunk. Just goes to prove that the media will do whatever they want to sway opinion.

I chose not to watch as I suspected it would be a propaganda piece (CNBC?), which would piss me off.

It was certainly left leaning (what do you expect) with a fair amount of propaganda. They did admit that < 0.5% of all homicides in the US are performed with semi-auto weapons. They did NOT specify how many of those were with AR style platforms. They did show (briefly) another, more powerful semi-auto that had a more traditional look and feel (that would not have been "banned").
I do feel that they harped on the .223 round as inflicting too much damage. And they certainly portrayed many AR owners as "preppers", some of which had hostility towards the government.
Biggest problem (IMHO) is that they started on the right (here's a dentist that owns and shoots responsibly; most "banned" items are form, not function) and ended up on the left (here's some youtube videos of AR owners advocating hostile acts if the government attempts to further limit 2nd amendment rights) along with quotes from docters and patients directly affected by the Aurora, CO incident.
If you consider the "left" or "media" to have opposing views, wouldn't it be rationale to understand their views? Let it "piss you off". The left arguments from the show are easily countered/deflected, IMHO.

I thought this was incorrect! The AR was used in the shootings
from everything I have heard. If I am wrong can someone
point to a source? Pete

Missed the show but saw a preview where a nurse said the AR does more damage than a shotgun, another lefty gun expert I guess.

I watched it. They tried to make it appear unbiased, but it was not.
A complete waste of my time.
I understand that CNBC's ratings are so low, that it probably won't matter anyway.
PLEASE LOCK THIS THREAD!

The doctor in question treated several of the victims of the Aurora, CO incident. Yes, she said that, and there were others that were suggesting that the type of trauma inflicted by the 223 was similar to what one would see on Iraq or Afghanistan. Duh. It was developed as a military round to inflict as much trauma as possible. That does not make the weapon that shoots it "evil".
Like I said in my earlier post, there were plenty of leftist ramblings in the show. However, most are easily deflected.
Just hope that they don't try to ban ammo or reloading supplies (not covered by 2nd amendment..). Raising prices (and possibly taxing it separately) is bad enough...

Yeager scares the living beejeebers out of me. Looks like he could come unglued in a split second. Some of his videos make me think he's doing some kind of drug. Just my opinion. He's definitely knowledgeable about firearms for protection but I wouldn't feel comfortable near him. I unsubscribed quite honestly.
