Oh yes, worse than ever. ... Found one little box of Speer 38 Special +P 135gr, and they wanted $59.00 for it?? Oh wow, of course I didn't buy it. Before the shortage I only paid $14.00 for a box.

ammo shortage
I tried Sportsman Guide and although they were out of inventory, they provided a notify me when available. A week later, I was notified that the ammo requested was available on a first come basis. I received it on my I-phone and ordered the ammo immediately. I received the three boxes of .40 cal within a week. The next day, I attempted to check their web site on the computer and they were out of stock. I was pleased with the notification and the ammo was very reasonable compared to the prices I paid a month ago. They charged me $19.99 for a box of 50 Remington reloads. Also, Midway had inventory of the same ammo for a dollar cheaper but that was gone in a day. You need to check the sites every day for the latest update on the ammo. I know it is time consuming but it is not getting any better. Good luck on your search.

Really strange how certain area's are still dry as a bone, and other's are getting ammo on a regular basis. My area is getting 22s 9mm 223/556 and other ammo weekly, at the LGS and Walmart.

One of the LGS's we go to tells us he is still buying and getting ammo at the same prices he always has. He is kinda out of the way and he says when he gets ammo in a few people seem to show up and buy it all. They tell him that they take it to gun shows or list it on the web and sell it for twice or 3 times what they paid for it. Until people quit paying exorbitant prices and let the money suckers suffer it is going to stay this way.

Ammo in my area is slowly coming in and some is still staying on the shelves. Recently ive seen more and more 9mm coming in and staying in stock in a few places-at least past 6 and 8am. Ive been to both Academy and WM a few times each in the past 2 weeks seeing Winchester-Remington and others in stock w/ 22 cal-9mm 40 cal etc. At WM yesterday-I saw two diff makers for 7.62 still on the shelf at 2pm-along wiht about 20 boxes of Remington 22 cal and other stuff. I bought my 3 boxes of 22 there-for less than $6 bucks. At Academy-I got 3 boxes of Winchester 9mm for about $60-not incl tax.
I called academy today-they still had about 60-70 boxes of 9mm on the shelf--and some 22 cal stuff. I think the panic is about over.

My local LGS almost always has ammo if you are not particular as to brand. Prices are reasonable as well.

New member here so forgive me if this has been discussed.
Why's he selling to to them? In my area it's just the opposite, the LGS's are selling ammo at ridiculous prices ($35 for a box of 50 9mm or 38 special, $75-100 for a brick of 22).
And people are lining up at WalMart in the middle of the night to buy it, do you believe this? We have a local gun club and there is one member who was bragging about getting there at 7pm the night before, to buy 22 at 7am. Wow

He runs a business, I myself do not buy from him. Other than 22lr I reload all of my ammo. I also have a problem with him knowing they are taking it and reselling it but its his business. Because of his knowledge of this and continuing to do so with the knowledge of what they are doing bothers me tremendously. I also don't buy from him and won't defend him if asked.
