Anyone used the Lead Sled Solo or the Deadshot fieldpod?
The shooting rest I have won't work with AR's. Has anyone used the Lead Sled Solo or the Deadshot Field Pod. I know the Deadshot is designed to be used for more field use vs sighting in but I wondered if it was stable enough for sighting in and then I can use it in the field as well. With the cost of ammo right now I don't want to shoot more than needed to zero, so I figured a good rest is worth the investment. Any other suggestions are appreciated as well. Thanks

I myself use a laser boresight...I have been known to change scopes often in the past. I find the boresight makes it where I don't normally take more than 5 shots to be zero'd. I have used the Lead Sled Solo but boresighting beforehand seriously reduces the number of shots required.

I use a Caldwell leadsled to sight in my rifles. I have sighted in MSR's and 1522's. I also use a laser boresight to sight in before shooting. I use 10 round short mag in 1522's and a 20 round, I think that is what it is, to use on MSR's. I know the 30 round won't work. I think you can pick up a 10 round MSR mag from Natchez right now. You will have to check. I hope this helps. It's cheaper to use a smaller mag than to buy a new rest. Just sayin.

I think a boresight is a great start and then maybe trying a local range and seeing if they have a rest you can use? I am not sure where you are in the world but maybe find a gun club and ask the members if they have one you can use? All that would be cheaper than a rest you are only going to use to zero.
I had to zero my rifle that shoots a .300 Win Mag and well I wasn't used to it and after 12 rounds leaning on a bench with just holding the rifle my shoulder and elbows were done for and I still didn't get a good zero. I asked members of my gun club and 2 days later we met at the range and bam he had a rest for me to use and all he wanted was to shoot it once or twice.
Just a thought...

J train I have that caliber in a TC Encore! It is the most brutal rifle that I own! Thank Goodness for the leadsled! And Yes, I used it when I sighted that gun in. BTW- I have been shooting a magnum caliber for 27 years!

Man 27 yrs! I just got a Limbsaver for mine and I really want to go shoot it now. I also got some managed recoil rounds to try. I don't think I would hunt with them but just for fun. I really love shooting that monster though! The leadsled was great for zeroing purposes though!

I have the Lead Sled Solo, It's solid and depending on the cartridge your shooting will really determine if you need any weight in the tray. Having a good solid rest will certainly help with sighting in. I agree with the others that have suggested the laser bore sighter.

The only Limbsaver I ever used was my hunting coat! I have a couple of 7 mags and a 338 win mag too. The 338 is in a Browning Bar so the recoil is minimal compared to the TC.

Thanks for the responses, I did have it Boresighted already. My LGS does it free. I do have 10 round mags for my AR 15 but the problem is that my pistol grip hits the center bar of my current rest. I have narrowed my choices down to getting the Deadshot fieldpod since I will use it hunting or just get a front rest with a rear bag. Since its just a 223 recoil isn't an issue so I may even go the cheap route and just take something to use as a front rest. Thanks again.

I do have a field pod and it is extremely customizable. it will hold an ar with any length magazine. I don't know about the extra wide ones like some of the 60 round ones. I've used it to site in rifles including a 30-06, it's plenty stable.

I do use a front rest and a bag...after I boresight. They really help. A Rock Jr. is next up on my wish list.
