Default VTAC MK2 sling attachment

Hey all,

Just ordered a VTAC MK2 Upgraded sling for my M&P15OR and was wondering if someone could help me with a simple question...what is the best way to attach the sling? There are a ton of options for sling attachments and I was wondering which would work best on the OR? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You ordered a sling without first deciding how you were going to use it and by what application?

Not trying to be a jerk, but your question has me confused?

I'm new to AR's and am trying to learn. I'm just looking for some suggestions on navigating the multiple options for attaching the sling to my OR. I will be using the sling for range work and hunting as well. I hope that helps clear up your confusion.

Impact weapons components makes a bolt on mount for those hand guards. For the rear use the slot and go over the top....or get a different end plate or other mount like a troy bolt on that clamps on the extension tube.

ETA: I guess it depends too on how you plan on carrying the gun.....

I have the Vtac LUSA sling attachment and it mounts to a rail. I use a QD sling swivel with it but could attach to it many different ways. It appears that you need to install a rail to your handguards or get a drop in quadrail. There are also sling attachements that will mount to your handguard, someone recently posted a nice flush fitting one using a magpul handguard. Good luck

I have a small rail for the handguard but I'd read somewhere that its best to attach the sling on the side of the handguard and I don't think my stock one will allow for that. I've also been looking into replacing the handguard with a Magpul one or getting a drop in rail.

How do you like the LUSA? It looks like it is very versatile but a little spendy. However I'm usually a buy once cry once kinda guy so if its worth the $$$ I might just jump in it.

Thanks all for the help!

Don't go jacking up your handguard.

Your gas block is designed to take a quick disconnect sling swivel....why not use it? It plugs in on the bottom (large hole) of the gas block.

Just do a quick Google search for "quick disconnect sling swivel" and you'll find them. Looks like this:

I do like my LUSA but I have a rail on the side of my tubular handguard. I use the same QD sling swivel on my LUSA and also on the CTR buttstock. My sling can be used as a two point or a one point and I have three points that I can connect to. Arizona is correct about the gas block (I forgot) but I dont like to connect a sling to the barrel. If I use the sling for shooting support I dont like pulling on the barrel but that is just me. Also if you have been shooting it much the QD sling swivel in the gas block can get mighty warm. Good Luck!
