Default Trijicon ACOG 4x32 green chevron scope

I recently got a Trijicon ACOG 4x32 green chevron scope for my m&p ar15 and zeroed it for 100 yds as the green chevron starts the calibration for this yardage there and goes up in increments of 100 yds. Anything closer than 100 yds I would use the pop up sight in the rear and the front iron sights. I haven't shot anything closer than 100 yds. Does anyone have experience switching to targets below 100 yds with this scope mounted?

I have a 3.5x ACOG on my M&P15 OR.

I have mine zeroed for 50 yds as a defensive rifle. That puts me a couple inches up @ 100 yds and pretty much back on target at 200 yds. For close in shots (I typically practice that at 15 and 25 yds), I was taught to just compensate (if shooting something like a head shot) by aiming a bit high....the closer in, the higher I aim. If I am shooting center of mass at 15 or 25, there is no reason to compensate. An inch up or down on the center of the chest doesn't matter.

If I were using it for varmint hunting....I would consider a rezero to 100 yds.

Wait, I'm confused. Shouldn't you be aiming lower at shorter distances because the bullet is rising at that point? I'm still learning this stuff.

You've answered your own question here. To stick with your terminology...since the bullet is still "rising" at closer ranges, that means the bullet is going to impact lower than your POA (Point of Aim), which means you'd need to raise your POA to compensate.

Bullets actually do not rise.

As stated, bullets do not rise coming out of the barrel....the graphic Getsome brought to the thread spells it out perfectly.

So...at a closer distance, the optic mounted a couple of inches over the makes more of a difference and your point of impact will be lower the closer you get to the target.

Not too surprising....I was an instructor in the Navy for the last 3+ years of my enlistment. After the Navy, I taught for a college for nearly 6 years. Then, took an instructor position at the largest nuclear generating station in the U.S. My mother was a school teacher and both of my sisters were school teachers too.

I mean...gee....the OP never had a chance....branch of service didn't even enter into the equation.

Edit: Now that was just plane fun. Don't anyone get their tighty whities in a knot.
