Default Question For Users of Aimpoint Pro

Greetings,

I bought an Aimpoint Pro and am trying to install it along with Aimpoint's 3x magnifier.

Question: If I remove the spacer in the mount, does that drop me down to 'absolute co-witness' height?? My MBUS will then line up with the dot in the center of the window??

With the spacer still installed I figure it must be at "1/3 co-witness"??

Here's the haps: I prefer "1/3 co-witness" but the "twist mount" for the magnifier seems to be "absolute" not "1/3".

If I have to use 'absolute' along with the magnifier, the rear MBUS has to go.......right?? (Room on the rails, and eye relief. I own a 15T.)

Which do you Aimpoint guys use, 1/3 or absolute???

I really don't want to remove the rear MBUS to clear the magnifier, but if I do, I do.

I haven't fired the rifle yet, so next time at the range, guess I'll site in the MBUS, mount the Pro and set the dot to coincide with the MBUS, remove the rear MBUS and then install the magnifier further back on the quad rail.

I'm open to any and all suggestions, gang.

If you have the funds you could get a Larue QD mount - that moves the Pro forward out over the handguard while keeping the base mounted on your receiver. That would probably give you space for the 3X along with your MBUS. If you nose around the Larue website they have some diagrams of what sort of co-witness you'll get from their various mounts.

Thanks for the reply,
I'm sorta obligated to the Aimpoint Twistmount now, tho.

I looked at Larue, Aimpoint, Vortex, all sorts of mounts from various companies and for my needs and the $ involved, I think it'll work.

Regarding the problem I was having, after I put on my glasses and started reading the fine print, I discovered I need another ring from Aimpoint that will act as a spacer to obtain co-witness height. I also called Aimpoint and talked with a Tech to make sure I was getting what I was lacking.

No doubt Larue makes some fine mounts but I'm a 'recreational' shooter and for the $, a dedicated platform from Aimpoint w/o other companies involved is what I wanted.

Thanks again

Welp, I DID end up on the Larue site and ordered their QD cantilever mount for my Pro then went ahead and ordered their QD 'Pivot Mount-Tall' for the 3x magnifier. According to the info there, they should line up with one another now and still have enough room to leave on the rear MBUS.

I needed a QD for my Harris Bi-pod too, so I picked one of their mounts for that also.

Now, I gotta ship the 'Twist-mount' back to Midway after the spacer ring gets here sometime this week.

Bub-bye next weeks paycheck, I guess.

And, thanx for the link!!

You're welcome. I love my Larue. Please post your thoughts on the bipod QD setup once you get it. And pics of your whole setup!
