Default Aimpoint pro with A2 front post

Looking for a little help here, I'm building an AR that has a flat top receiver with a 16" BBW mid length barrel. I have an Aimpoint Pro that I will be using for my optics. I want to put an A2 front sight on it with a flip up rear sight for back up.

I guess I'm confused on what parts to order to make it all work. Are there any differences in A2 front sights?

Any help would be great!

Nick

With the Aimpoint on the stock mount, the A2 sight will be in the lower 1/3. Your standard BUIS (Magpul, Troy, etc.) should match up to it and you will have a lower 1/3 cowitness.

Oh well that's good! I also read that I would need an "F" marked front sight post if used on a flat top receiver, said it would make zeroing easier..is this true?

Yes, you want the F marked front sight. Otherwise, you may need to change sight pins for a different height to obtain zero.

Off the subject but,

Yesterday I switched out the Aimpoint Pro's OE mount for a LaRue cantilever mount.

I wasn't sure what to torque the rings to, so I set my torque driver to 10-in/lbs for removing the stock screws from the Aimpoint's rings and figured I'd increase the torque in 2-in/lbs increments until they broke loose, then I'd know roughly what to torque the LaRue ring screws too.

Anyhoo, they all broke free with less than 10-in/lbs of torque.
They are supposed to be 25-30-in/lbs.

So, while you are working on your Pro I'd check the torque of the ring screws cuz mine were finger tight!!

I've never checked the torque on ring screws from a Factory Fresh item, cuz I've always figured that anything from a well established company such as Aimpoint wouldn't require it. No more. I'ma checking all my optic's ring screws for the correct torque from now on.

I'm just glad I found it before going to the range and wondering why my brand new Aimpoint won't hold center!!

The rather sad part is that all the ring screws from Aimpoint had blue locktite, too. After the first broke free w/less than 10-in/lbs, I switched to a regular screw driver and couldn't believe how loose they all were without ever being mounted on a weapon before.

Check the torque of your Aimpoint scope rings, guys. If you have the means.
