Help me choose AR15
Hi, Been looking at a S&W M&P 15, Armalite, Bushmaster all in 5.56 223 caliber. Price ranges have been $700-$1060. Use to have a Sig 516, sold it when the "BS" started -- probably a mistake. Don't want to spend $1500-$1600 again. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated on which make & model would be best choice. Thank you.

I just picked up a Limited Edition Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Patriot Series (Don't Tread on Me) Rifle....
These are under 1000.00 without the logo 900.00 at Quantico Tactical online. IN STOCK
I put some of the Magpil stuff from my Aero Precision AP-15
This is my old Franken-gun Aero Precision AP-15, (3000 rounds and still kicking)
Del-Ton / Wilson Barrel

I've done business with Del-Ton in the past, long before the 2008 election and all the nonsense that followed. They're based in Elizabeth City, NC, and used to come and set up at the Raleigh gun shows. Very nice folks. Since 2008, they haven't come to the shows, but I still deal with them via online and phone orders.
Anyway, when the craziness started following the 2008 election causing a shortage in AR's, they extended their delivery times but NEVER raised their prices. Some orders took many months to fulfill, but were honored at "pre-hysteria" prices. That says a lot about the company, as far as I'm concerned.
Recently I received an email promotion from them offering a complete M4 rifle kit (except stripped lower, and no rear sight) for $450. I waited too long (1/2 day) and missed that deal, but the point is that their pricing has stayed quite reasonable. Of course, like most AR vendors these days, they don't have much in stock, so you have to watch and be ready to order when stuff is available.
I had one problem minor problem with an upper and they turned it around and shipped it back to me within several days. That's the fastest turnaround I ever had from a gun company, plus I got a call from a knowledgeable human being about the problem when they were looking at it.
If you haven't gotten the idea yet, I like dealing with Del-Ton!
Lou

Whatever you decide consider a mid length gas system...much smoother. Gun test magazine this month has a comparison of Bushmaster, Armilite and Rock River...should make good reading before you decide.

I've had several COLT HBAR units and currently have the newer HBAR Target. I am not into "swat" types so it works well for me.
A friend bought a SIG 400 for around 1K. It is an awesome rifle. If I would have found it before the COLT I'd now own one.
My son built his the old fashioned way, one piece at a time. It is a very nice rifle. He now knows one inside and out. He learned the outside in the Marines while doing time in Kuwait and Iraq.
