Default another rail question?

weaver and picatinny, vendors sell scope mounts and claim their product will work on either rail. I tried one of these mounts and I had to torque the wing nut down- in your experience do these 'universal' mounts work well and is Locktite( a few drops) OK- thanx!

I've never had a problem.

BUT, if you do use Loctite, use the "blue" Medium Strength Threadlocker ... OEM Specified 242. The part number is 24200.

By using the 242 Blue, you can still take the unit apart without using heat or other methods.

NEVER use Loctite Red 271 ... EVER ... at least, if you want to take the rig apart again.

I was a gun writer for two and a half decades and have worked on and with many firearms. Please use the Blue 242 Loctite, if you use any at all.

God Bless,

Steve Timm
