Magazine problems
At the range yesterday I tried out my AR-15. Ive had it quite awhile but havent gotten around to shooting it till now. When I tried to insert the magazine it would not lock into place. P-Mag, no go with bolt closed, bolt back or downloaded magazine. Surplus mag, locked in place with bolt open but had hard time with bolt closed. Downloading the mag did nothing to help. I tried numerous mags with the same the same results. Any ideas other than send it back to factory?

Is your magazine release sticky, or does it have something stuck to it. Look up into the magazine well and see. Also do you have a Magwell Grip on it? I have had to dremel the inside lower portion of my Magwell Grips for some different magazines to work, and some never did.

GlenS,
I've had the same problem. I have ONE Pmag that will not lock up when I insert it into the magazine well. I marked it so I would know which one it is. The only way it would lock up is when I removed one round from it. Still can't understand why that would make it not lock up.

May be follower or spring issue.. something is taking up some extra space when there is a full load in the mag. I have one mag that will do that but then again it's a 30 round mag and I didn't count out 30 rounds and was able to load 31 rounds. With 31 rounds in it I have the same issues. bolt must be open or extract one round.. The follower limiter may be a tad long on your odd mag.. George

On my 10 round mags (Stoner) I found that the spring wasnt fastened into the follower, limiting the mags to 9 rounds, while I had them apart I put the Magpul followers into them and put the spring into the hole on the follower and now the issues I had with them seating is gone.

I also have an S&W 1911 SC E series, 7 round mag loads and works fine, but the 8 round mag is real tuff to load if slide is closed and will not properly feed the first round unless I only load 7 rounds. I just ordered a few Wilson Combat mags, when I get them will let you know how they work with the gun.
