Newbie Ammo Question
Thanks in advance.
1. Just found some Federal American Eagle 5.56 62 grain fmj. They have a Green tip. What is the significance of the green tip?
2. I was given a few 5.56 with Red tip. What is the significance of the red tip?

not sure about the red tip, but the green tip is LAP, or light armor piercing.

Green Tip normally indicates that the projectile is steel core penetrator.

Red Tip normally indicates a red tracer round.

A lot of ranges will not let you shoot either green tip or red (painted) tip so check before you buy.
