Talking AR Fever - Not Two Deseases At Once, Pllllease!!!

Hi:

Will pick-up my first AR 15 Thr: LWRC with a 16" fluted barrel, LWRC iron sights, Aimpoint 2 MOA red dot, Eotech 3x magnifier that swings out of the iron sights way, and a military style pop out bi-pod. I'm really looking forward to zeroing it in and shooting it this w/e.

I'm also considering building an A15 18" 6.8 SPC for . . . ahhh, well, because ahhh - you know!!! It seems like it would be a nice winter project, and maybe my bus. co-owner's partner and I could go hunting - she's quite accomplished at dear hunting with bow and rifle here in SoCaL, having taken two each in the last four seasons. (I've got a couple ex-marine gun guys who are egging me on here - one's an ex-sniper and totally awesome to watch shoot, almost unbelievable to hear the small plates a 600 yds. go gong every time.

Building would a whole new level of gun involvement and ownership. How do some of you folk feel about/enjoy the building process. Maybe, I'd even start reloading but that's a whole other story for another day.

Wait, it's time for meds again . . . R

Rachael;

Doing your own custom builds is a blast! Not only do you get everything set up exactly the way you want, you know exactly how it was put together. I just finished my first AR build, and am already chasing parts for a second one in .300 AAC Blackout, and a third in 6.8 SPC.

You can find all the instructions you need on Youtube. You need to be good with your hands and have a bit of patience. Beyond that you only need some basic handtools, a receiver mounting block, and a good armorers wrench - and a friend who has a bench vise.

Do it - it'll be a lot of fun! The heck with the AR Fever meds!

Rick

There is no disease here, so don't worry about getting an AR. I am working on my tenth one (plus two 15-22) and remain perfectly normal except for the uncontrolable salaviting when I see MP 15's or get a email ad from Palmetto State Armory or read about new products here.......or.............good luck with your first :-)

It is not a disease! It is normal to have to buy another safe every year! It is perfectly normal to have ARs in 7 calibers and be looking for the parts too build a a rifle in a 8th caliber.
Oh and it is covered under Obamacare..
Also the check is in the mail.

Hey you guy's! I know you are trying to help but I just don't see that many zombies these days. Another AR, really???

Well, maybe. Also, looking at a 7mm-08, 308 or 7 WSM for hunting. My tribe wants to go to Montana next year for some deer, elk, antelope hunting. Now that will be a blast - 2 of us have already taken several deer.

Ahhh, I can feel the luv from it all . . . Thanks you guys for being you.

Yes, there is no hope once you start building them. The nice thing is piecing them together allows me to pick up parts gradually and at good prices. I make a list and I look for deals. When I find something on the list at a good price I pick it up. You can build some very high quality rifles for a lot less money this way. Just finished this one.

And my 6.8 took its first deer this year. It did just fine, seeing as how it was handicapped being one of those "assualt weapons" and all.

How is that that front sight holding up for you? I've been looking at it for some time now.

I use KNS front sights on all my AR's and I've never had a problem with a single one of them.
