Finally ordered an M&P Sport
I have a M&P15A, a 15/22, and sold a M&P15OR.
I've always wanted a Sport and said when the price is right I'll grab one....
$555 at Bud's Police right now. Mine is on its way. Wish they still had the old barrels, but they're still a steal at that price.

Kind of curious as to why you got rid of the OR in favor of a Sport.
(not that there's anything wrong with that)

I think he might have sold the OR in favor of the 15A.

Actually I just buy too many guns!
Bought the OR new for $750 during the hype last January. Got the $100 rebate from S&W so I had $650 in it.
Loved the gun, but somebody wanted it really bad (because of the panic I guess) and offered me $1600 for it. I liked the 15A because of the Troy Battle sights, so I sold the OR.
So I gambled that I could always pick one up later and I won that bet. Got lucky I guess. I can tell you if Hillary gets voted in that OR will be worth $3,000 though....

Picked my Sport up tonight.
I'm surprised it doesn't have the M4 type thinned area on the barrel.
And the rear sight feels like I'm going to break it. It's plastic I think...
Other than that it looks okay. I'll clean it up and run some rounds through it to see if it works...

Well since you're not going to install a grenade launcher, I don't think the barrel cut is truly necessary. The rear sight is a polymer Magpul folding sight.

Well, I just ordered a Sport too. Was really wanting a Colt LE6920, but the additional $450 is gonna have to go towards a new water heater for the house.
That's ok, because I've read a lot of good things about this little gun, and it should suffice as a learning tool - since this is my 1st AR. Before starting to research these weapons last summer, I knew nothing about them. Guess all the panic buying hubbub piqued my interest and had to see what the fuss was all about.
Was glad to see the big price drop from the inflated bs of 2013, so that encouraged me to take the plunge.
Now to get at least a half dozen Pmags and a case of ammo.

Congrats! Go shoot your 15-Sport. I bet after shooting it, you'll realize it's every bit an AR15 as others. It has an entry level price, but gives more than the price alludes to. It can accept any aftermarket AR accessories and furniture. If you still have an itch for a FA & Dustcover later on, buy a stripped full feature upper and transplant the barrel.
As for ammo, check Wideners reloading. They have a great price on a 1k case of Wolf premium brass case copper FMJ.

I think I might be missing something please explain he sold the m&p-15or to get the sport what's the difference other than sights and no dust cover & forward assist? Both are 1/9 twist right or is it just for the iron sights? Please help with a little education. Jws339

Lost Lake currently owns a M&P 15A and a M&P 15-22. At some time in the past, he sold a M&P 15-OR. He's had an itch for a 15-Sport, and thinks it may be the right time to scratch the itch.
The M&P-OR has a forward assist, dust cover, railed gas block, handguards with heat shields, no iron sights. Hence "OR": optics ready.
The M&P 15-Sport does not have a forward assist or dust cover. It comes with narrow diameter handguards that do not have aluminum heat shields, a Magpul rear folding sight, and an A2 F marked front sight post.
