Default Bipod mounting suggestions

I have an M&P 15-OR that I want to attach a bipod to. I am looking for some kind of mount that will either attach under the gas block to the sling point or to the bottom of the hand guard. I do not want to replace the handguard with a quad rail. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Interesting.....not sure where. Did you check youtube? Not a huge bi pod fan, they add considerable weight. Are you doing a lot of range shooting?

I have not come across any on you tube. The bipod i have has a quick disconnect thumb screw so i would be able to remove it when i wanted to save weight. that is why i am looking for a lighter weight mounting option than a quad rail

Get a rail segment, mount it to the bottom of your stock handguard.

Buy a short Piccatinny rail section from Magpul and mount it to the bottom of your for end grip. Get a little creative, and anything is possible. They make backing plates that the screws thread into so you can use the existing holes in the fore grip. At most you might have to drill a new hole, or elongate an existing hole.

This is my M&P-15 Sport with a Blackhawk bipod and bipod adapter on the stock handguard. I bought Magpul rails, attached the Blackhawk bipod adapter, and then the Blackhawk bipod, all in all it was about $60, with the bipod being 40, adapter was $15, and the rail was $5. Haven't got to shoot it yet, but I plan to tomorrow if the weather holds off.

The regular bipods add some weight to the overall weight of the AR. Suggest checking out a vertical forearm grip with a spring loaded drop down bipod. You have a sturdy viertical grip and with a push of a button you have a bipod. A whole lot lighter and a whole lot cheaper.

Check out Amazon or ebay...

Harris makes a #5 adapter specifically for stock AR handguards...

What about a gas block that has rail sections on the top and bottom? I've been considering that on my OR.

I wouldn't swap out my pinned gas block just so I could get one with a rail on the bottom for a bipod. The options listed above will work fine. Why go through a gas block swap for one?
