Ahhh got to ask just why there is a cut in the barrel for a grenade launcher? What purpose does that serve exactly? Looks like it weakens the barrel to me. HR

There is a reason for it....
Colt M203 40mm Grenade Launcher But you know that. Beyond that, it's just there because that's what people want. I tend to like the medium contour mid-lengths myself.

Yeah its correct for the model. I like the medium or heavy barrel just cause.

I wonder if it makes that much difference? Maybe if it were a bench rest gun it would, but this is an AR. Not really intended to be a high precision tool.
