I would be curious why even have this on the gun? Who holds the AR by the end of the barrel. Only times I have seen that is Military drill.

No, I would not add that to my gun. It's extra weight I don't need and solves a problem that doesn't exist.

It is shroud and quiet popular thing for the carbines, it does not do much protecting hands from the hot barrel is main. I am not saying people should install it, just interesting if anyone does and how it holds this caliber.

I've seen shrouds installed to give the appearance of a suppressed SBR, and are properly threaded onto the barrel. Neither would apply here.
I would think twice before installing a device like that with a setscrew. Now if you want something that looks similar to that and can be properly installed on a threaded muzzle, take a look at the DPMS "slipover" flash hider.

Hey i once had a stag ar 15 i held at the lgs. It was light. It had a really like metal front end shroud over the barrel and not yhe heavy quad picatinny rail. Am i able to get that shroud or whatever aftermarket and replace it on any ar 15?

Keeping your hand off the barrel when hot will do more than a barrel shroud. If you just want tacticool look, then go for it.
If you want to be able to hold the rifle out in front and drive it like a fire hose, then a 15" quad rail or keymod rail would serve you better... keeps your hands off the barrel, free floats the barrel, and looks cool... multi purpose.

I suspect if it was actually popular on carbines, a lot of the posters on this forum would have heard of it. The replies appear otherwise.
I can't imagine even a mall ninja mounting one on their rifle.

I guess that is because of AR15 style, however if you look into Beretta CX4 or FN PS90 forums most people are installing shrouds. Lekker is one of the most popular one. Again nothing against of your opinion, just asking.
