Magpul MOE-SL handguard
I see the SL stock and grip are available now. Does anyone have the carbine handguard in stock yet? I thought they [SL line] would all be available at the same time.

The MOE-SL handguard is available at Midway. Got my order in as soon as I saw it. Hope changing it is as easy as it looks on YouTube.

It is that easy.
I'm surprised that it took this long for Magpul to market a "slim" handguard. If you want the slimmest 2-piece polymer drop in handguard, check out the B5 systems keymod handguard. They're slimmer than the 15-Sport's stock handguards, and they have heat shields. They're my favorite two-piece drop in handguard.
The Mission First Tactical BMS stock is worlds better than the Magpul MOE.

The old MOE stocks were rock solid with zero wobble but the new ones have an excessive amount of play.
I'll probably never own another magpul stock since the b5 systems sopmod bravo is awesome and only $58. I'm itching to try their hand guards as well.

I used to be a Magpul junkie. I wanted the same gear that Costa and Haley used in those "Art of the Carbine" DVD's. (Best marketing tool ever, IMO)

The MOE-SL has a heat shield and extends forward to cover the heat from the front sight/gas block. I still wonder if the front sling mount has to be removed since it will be covered. I assume that would just be a matter of knocking the pin out. It's probably tapered; can't tell for sure by just looking at it.

A punch and a hammer will make short work of the rivet holding the swivel in place.

They just delivered my MOE-SL handguard and the Delta ring wrench. It is a very tight fit; I wouldn't have been able to do it alone without the wrench. Very solid fit when installed, and I like the feel. Ventilation should be better than the stock guard, and the heat shield is welcome. I don't think I'll add any rail sections to it; that might be too bulky. A sling mount is the only thing I might add. I was hesitant to buy the Delta wrench for a one-time use, but I'm glad I had it.

MOE SL
I just got mine in the mail today and got it installed, cannot wait to get to the range again to try it out. I had the original MOE hand guard on it before but this new MOE SL edition is much better. Here are some pics. Also it goes on tight and has no wobble, my original MOE hand guard got some wobble but not much.
It does have heat shields also like the Original MOE. I also like the fact that it is not a fat in diameter as the original MOE hand guard.
I put the AFG on it and love how it rides up higher than on the original MOE hand guard.

Yes you have to remove the front sling mount, but it is worth it. The new MOE SL gives you a higher ride over the front iron sights. I am not sure what wobble these other people are talking about got a slight play from the oringal MOE hand guard but the new MOE SL nothing at all. Installs tightly onto your carbine, took me a few tries to get it on there but I got it.

Yea, I love my SL handguard along with my SL stock I have no play or movement in either. Another thing is with the hand guard extended past the front sight aside from besides a more forward hand placement they give the weapon a much meaner leaner look ......

I sent my SL hand guard back, most of my original MOE poly rails and light mounts would not fit into the larger slots in the newer hand guard. I discovered that it was mainly made to be used with there new MLOK system which is nice but I didn't want to spend more money out on MLOK rails and other items just to correctly use my new hand guard.
I went back to the original MOE carbine hand guard, now my light and cantilever rail fits properly.

SL hanguards
I don't know what kind of AR's you guys have but I put a Magpul SL fde hanguard in my kid's S&W 15 sport and it fit awesome. Super tight fit and no wobble what so ever. We didn't buy any specials tools either but there was two of us. It feels 100x better than the original handguard it came with.

SL Magpul
Yeah there are times I miss the SL MOE Magpul handguard but my old MOE rails wouldn't fit correctly. I agree with the slimmer meaner look it gave my rifle. With the old MOE handguard it has a bit of wobble and wiggle in it and it's driving me nuts. The Sl fit really tight on the fire arm but did get a bit warmer when shooting back to back mags.

I just installed the SL in stealth grey, along with a MOE+ grip, on my sport last night. Fits great and looks great! Waiting to get the M-lok AFG and ACS stock...

Magpul MOE-SL Handguard Sling Swivel Mod
FYI, if you're not one to drive your AR from up front, the SL handguard can be altered to keep the sling swivel and also to make the guard look better. You just have to cut the front down with a hobby saw (see pix for where to cut) and refinish the edge with a fine grit sanding block. Measure twice and twice again before taking saw to plastic...

I put one on my OR. I had to trim some off the front of the top half to clear my gas block and sight but it fits great now, no wobble. I prefer the looks of it also since it extends forward giving it a longer look and it fills the gaps above and below the delta ring. I read that they were a pain to install but I had no problems doing it by hand and I had to do it a few times until I had it trimmed enough to fit. I still need to get a Stock to match and I would like to paint some mags to match as well.

Does anyone know if the MOE Illumination kit will work with the SL handguards?
