Default Thinking of buying another Sport

How many of you guys have more than one sport?

I love my Sport. I have it set up with a great scope and enjoy shooting anywhere from 100 to 300 yards. At 100 yards I shoot about 1.5" groups. I'm positive the gun is more accurate than me that's for sure.

I've been thinking about buying another sport to set it up more tactical with something like an Eotech or something similar. Keep it light and fast.

Do any of you guys have more than one?

For me, variety is a big component in overall enjoyment. I have more than one AR-15. I don't have two 15-Sports. If you're going to stick with an AR-15, why not build one? Building an AR-15 is a worthwhile experience. Build yourself a 20" stainless steel bull barrel, fixed stock, AR-15. Turn that one into your long range rifle. Set up your 15-Sport as the close to intermediate range rifle. Another idea is to switch it up. Instead of direct gas impingement, go gas piston. Build yourself an H&K 416 clone.

What is your budget? Have you thought of trying out modern sporting rifles other than an AR-15?

I agree with John. I have more than one AR and have different manufactures along with different barrel lengths and gas systems not to mention a couple builds of my own. Same goes for handguns and shotguns. I have a collection and it's my hobby. No two of anything are the same.

I have 4 15s. One Sport, one Bush, and two I built myself. I'm right with these other two guys.

I don't know where you would get a better one, with better factory support, and more reliable long-term support, for less money. If you really like the one you have, sure, why not buy another one and set it up a little differently? Seems logical to me.

Don't think on it too long. With the prices like they are, now is the time to buy. We all know how that can change in a hurry.

Thanks for the advice... I thought about building one, but I love my other Sport so much and it's so reasonably priced that I just went ahead and bought another one today. I got it for $579. I'm going to set this one up light and fast.

Maybe someday I'll build one, but for now, I'm just going to enjoy setting this one up

I have two Sports. Set up pretty much the same, both have the UGT quad rail and VTac sling, one has the Nikon P223 scope and the other has the Bushnell TRS 25 Red Dot.

I guess it depends on your intended use.

I'm one of those nutjobs who has guns for defense, period. Maybe home invasion, maybe civil unrest, maybe the zombie apocalypse. In whichever case, my guns are simply tools for a job.

With that in mind, there are three potential shooters in my hpme,. therefore there are three identically set up Sports. Any of us can grab any of the AR's and not have to figure anything out...all are instantly familiar and all will be instantly effective due to familiarly.

Just .02 from the conspiracy theorist nutjob section.

Don't have another Sport, but I have a 15T that is set up for long distance shooting. I have a receiver for a build down the road that will probably center on accuracy.

You're not a nutjob. I may not own guns solely for defense, but I do have specific firearms that are solely for defense. These are the ones that are kept in a state "ready" enough for me.

There's nothing wrong with that either. Single manual of arms to learn. Single manual of arms to drill into muscle memory. This leads to efficiency. No wasted movement or time. My situation is such that long guns aren't the optimal choice for home defense. My home defense pistols are a Glock 17 and a Glock 19.

I do admit to carrying pistols with different manual of arms. God gifted me with the ability to do it. The pistol I choose to carry whenever I can is the Glock 19.

No such thing. Conspiracy theorists aren't nut jobs. They're just extreme forward thinkers.

Nice !! Just curious as to whether or not you cleaned yours before you went shooting and what you used to clean and lube it with.

I wouldn't say I cleaned it. I took the bolt out and wiped it down with a little CLP. There was a lot of lube on it from the factory. I believe it was ready to shoot right out of the box.

If you like the Sport and it meets your needs, I see nothing wrong with having two set up for different types of shooting... the price is hard to beat and I still love mine.

I'm in the process of putting together another AR, but it is way different than my Sport. Mid-length gas system, 13" key mod rail... undecided on grips and stock. This one is for my son. It will cost a whole lot more than the Sport when done, but I will still out shoot him!

I'm one of those who recommend building an AR just for your particular needs/wants. However, I will admit that the M&P Sport is a real bargain.

Personally, I just finished my first AR and with the help of a friend and Youtube I've put together what may turn out to be a 1/2 MOA Varmint Rifle. About the only negative is that it is rather heavy at 9.5 lbs without a scope. So now I'm looking into building an upper with a Tactical/Light Weight slant. That's one distinct advantage to the AR platform, you can swap uppers in under a minute and have a completely different rifle. BTW, below is my Varmint setup and I can say with certainty that the Timney trigger I put in the lower was worth every penny it cost me. It's also the reason I'm leaning to just putting together an additional upper.

I went the other way and built up a Vietnam retro A1 style AR as a companion to my Sport. 20" pencil barrel, fixed handle, triangular hand guards and all

3 & 1/2! I bought one back in 2012...and got two more later on sale. One is stock, another got a free float tube/flip-up front sight and a few other trinkets, and the 3rd is at S&W over a labeling dispute. I also bought their 15R (?) upper slightly used to go on a Spike's lower...it's a 5.45x39.
