What Makes it an LE model?
Looked back over a year and couldn't find any threads on this but I have been known to not see the obvious
I purchased a supposedly 311000 a year or so ago but its not marked with a model #
Any way to tell?
What exactly makes it an LE verses the 811000?
Thanks
BTW - Been a great firearm. I use a Slidefire on it occasionally and never had a hiccup

It was ordered from the LE catalog, vs. the commercial catalog. Years ago, S&W stated that the difference was that it got a little more qc inspection before it left the factory vs. the 811000 sold to the general public. Same gun otherwise.

Same exact gun most of the time except sold under LEO program at a lower cost to individual officers. We are LEO dealers for S&W, FN, and a few others. I just need ID from the officer and not supposed to sell to civilians. If guns are for a dept. they ship direct to the dept.

Sort of related, Glock includes 3 mags and night sights on at least some of their LEO packages. My LEO brother was able to buy one personally from a distributor.

I bought this used and only had one p-mag with it
And of course, it only had a carry handle and no special sights
Still had the original box but neither it nor the rifle itself is marked so I just went by what was told to me
EDIT- I just went up in the attic and checked the box again
It IS marked 311000
Why are Brown Recluse spiders so drawn to cardboard?

I had the same question. Recently bought the MOE Mid (had to use my fire dept ID and such receiving the LEO pricing), but wondered if there was any difference other than the sticker on the box saying LE with the rifle info on it. Didn't think there was any differences, but still had that curiosity.

The letters "L" and "E" in the name.

You'd figure that'd tack on a few extra bucks ha.. Everything labeled for military/le/fire/etc use is marked up. At least there are a few companies that want to lend a helping hand

I would have assumed that "LE" was originally used to identify pre-ban assault weapons that were only sold to LEO.
My Colt AR15 is model LE6920 with an LE s/n but nothing on it says "for law enforcement only".
Not here for an argument..Just my .02¢.

I had written this as well, but decided to leave it off. Though, it is very true. Just like "tactical" or "military issue" and so forth. It's all marketing.
In this case though, there is no difference between the two models except the name.

and shall I dare hit the nerve and say "mil-spec"? Not everything has to be "mil-spec" for it to be good, but they know that people go crazy for it. Some mil-spec things are better than commercial and some commercial things are better than mil-spec.
