Default Extended charge handle on sport

Any one have any problems with these. I read somewhere that they put extra stain on some pin? I have had one on for about 300 rnds without an issue.

The only pin I could see there being any extra strain on would be the pin holding the release leaver in the charging handle.

I'm running one in my M&P10 and have had no issues.

Put a simple $7 Strike Ind latch on a couple of mine, those pins aren't going to break. I've heard of some larger poorly designed latches breaking at weak points, but it was never the pin.

The vast majority of AR scope mounts are cantilevered so the scope can be mounted with the ocular lens even with the rear of the receiver. If the ocular lens of the scope is mounted even with the rear of the receiver, you do not need an extended latch.

If you have problems getting close enough to the scope, move the stock in a couple of notches. At first this will feel odd, but you actually have better control of the rifle this way. You achieve even more control of the rifle if you stand square with the target instead of blading your body away at an angle.

To answer the OP's question, the better charging handles with extended latches are designed such that there is no additional strain on the pin holding the latch in place. If you use the handle like most of us do instead of slapping it with your left hand, there is little or no strain on the latch to begin with.
