Default mp15 moe midlength

Ok, so I bought this rifle with the intentions of upgrading the handguard to a quad rail. I've tried 3 drop in and none of them work. The third one I called smith and wesson and they said to call yankee hill. So I did. I told them what I had and they said get yhm-9805. So I did. The rifle had a circular end cap. But this quad still doesn't work, even though it's finally circular. The end that's supposed to go into the delta ring is to thick. Does anyone know of a quad rail that will work? ?? What am I missing? ? Do I have to modify the rifle??

I have these drop-in quad rails, Midwest Industries: Gen2 Two Piece Drop-In Handguard, on my MP 15A and MP 15 OR carbines and the fit is good. The Daniel Defense EZ Car drop in rail fit fine as well, Daniel Defense EZ CAR 2-Piece Handguard Quad Rail AR-15 Aluminum Black. The Daniel Defense rail ended up on a Bushmaster upper as the Midwest Industries rail was a little loose on it.

Both brands come in a mid-length version. The Midwest Industries version requires no tools while the Daniel Defense version has 4 small allen screws at the receiver end (it does snug up very well).

Don't mean to thread jack, but how do you like the DD EZ CAR? Looking to possibly get one for my MOE Mid

Thanks for the info. . I hope one will work. This will be my 4th quad rail attempt.. I think I'm going to ty the Midwest industries gen 2. Are you sure this will work with a circular end cap?

Thanks again for the help. ..I hope this one works...

I am sure that the end caps on mine are circular and the midwest and DD handguards both fit mine. Mine look like this: AR6721 HANDGUARD CAP | Brownells

If in doubt call Midwest Industries or email them, they are usually pretty good with getting back to you.

I am really suprised that the Yankee Hill quad rail didn't work. I have no experience with their handguards but I have had very good luck with their folding sights.

Sometimes it helps if you lay the rifle down flat on a table when installing the handguards, instead of having the barrel pointing up. Just something about certain positions makes them drop in easier sometimes.

I like them just fine, they are well made and very light. The only cons that I see with them are: 1) They don't have a quick detach sling mount built in, 2) the picatinny rail numbers are even on the Smith and Wesson rifles I have and the DD handguard uses odd numbers (not a big deal to me, but some people are more OCD about that stuff), and 3) they are more permanently attached than the Midwest industries model, but that can be a good thing too.

I think DD has a more expensive model with the built in Quick Detach mounts, that is basically a drop in as well.

You took a MOE off and now can't get a replacement on? Can you get the MOE back on? If it had a MOE installed I can't see a problem with the rifle unless you damaged it during removal, and I don't see 3-4 rails being out of spec, might look for a LGS that can help you out.

BTW handguard install can be a little tricky, fully seat the front get the back started so it is held by the delta ring and then give it a good smack with the palm of your hand to pop into place.

Default midwest

Midwest told me that their 2 piece drop in would only work on the triangular cap. Sounds like we have the same rifle SW Model M&P15 MOE Mid Length MAGPUL SPEC SERIES

Anyone ever find a rail that would work for the Mid MOE? I want to keep the front A2 sight but switch to an aluminum rail.

Here's a pricey drop-in free-float that you can add rail sections to.
