New Sport 2
Did a little shooting this past weekend and I need a scope . Thoughts on the a Nikon 3x32 or maybe Leupold 1-4x20. Just a scope for mid range target and for the occasional yote or varmint.

I've got a 1.5x5 on one of my AR's and a red dot on another. We need to remember that the real reason for using a scope is to place the aiming point and target in the same focal plane, not magnification.
When you have a 4x scope and you are shooting at a target 200 yards away, the target will appear to be the same size through the scope as it would be if you were shooting at it at 50 yards with iron sights. If you can't hit a 'yote at 50 yards with iron sights, you need more practice.

Leupold has one of the best warranty policies and departments in the business, Nikon not so good. What else do you need?

Is a yote like a yute?
Just running a Nikon P 223 3x9x40 and love it. I like aperture.

FWIW, I have a Burris AR 332 on my POF Putitan that was mounted on my S&W MOE, now gone, that I really like. It has a BDC, will still work in black without batteries and red or green (5 densities) if you need to. A great optic that works for me.

"Yote" short slang for coyote.

I have several Leupold 1-4X20 scopes and I think it is one of
the best scopes they make. I have two of the VX-II models
that I plan to mount on two ORC carbines, a Bushmaster and
a DPMS. Also the VX-1 with heavy duplex on a 44 mag bolt
action, and an older VariX-II on a 30-06 and another one
that's going on a 22 rifle. Great scopes, wide field of view at
1X setting, about 1.3X actual, lets you shoot with both eyes
open. At 4X they are just as sharp as the fixed 4X Leupold.
They weigh 8 oz on my kitchen scale. No hassle lifetime
warranty. The VX-1 with heavy duplex is called a shotgun-
muzzleloader scope and can be bought online for about $200
+ a low shipping charge.

I should have asked my cousin Vinny.
Road Glide, Good luck with your quest for an optic.
If I see a yote at 400 yds at 9x, he`s an ex yote.
And there you have it, and now I know
"the rest of the story".

GO WITH 3X9!
A 3X9 will give you more options... I run a Nikon 3X9 and its usually running at lower power but it allows me to reach out. Much more versatile.
