What magazine?
Going to purchase a new M&P Sport 2, sku# 10202, and I was wondering about 30 round magazines? I've seen at least 3 different brands. Which one is the most reliable?

But any AR mag will theoretically work, the common ones are PMAGs, Lancer, Troy, and many aluminum mags with improved followers.
Best deal for price and reliability I've seen are D&H mags with Magpul followers, on sale like down toward $7/ea.

You'll find that Palmetto Armory Ammunition, AR15 Parts, Magazines, Bulk Ammo - Palmetto State Armory has been running a $6.99 D&H 30 rd. mag special on a regular basis, at least they have during the last couple months. If your interested I suggest their email deal alerts, they can disappear pretty fast.
You may want to consider some smaller capacities as well. I've been using 20 rd Lancer translucents lately. Makes for a more compact package.

I vote for some 20 rounders as well. They are more user friendly in a lot of situations.

There are a million different mag makers for AR. Most of the cheaper ones are ok...not great, not bad but nothing I'd stake my life on. The better ones are Troy, Pmag, Lancer, HK, USGI.

Anyone have any hands-on with the HK mags? Are they 4x the quality to match the 4x cost?

10 round mags are best when your friends want to try your new rifle, along with YOUR ammo.

Have seen comments on the SS HKs having weak springs but no testing to confirm that. The stainless steels are well made but you pay more for that. $54 @ Midway currently.
There's also an HK polymer 30 rd. now. Half the cost.
I stick to Lancers and Pmags. Have been reliable and durable and were priced right.

Gen 2 PMAG is what came with my rifle.
I picked up a handful of spares since the price has been pretty reasonable online.

+1
I stick to PMags, but my LGS has them for less than $10 so to me the extra buck is worth it..

I switched to PMags when they came out years ago and never looked back. Never had problems with any of them in any round count size for 223/5.56 or 7.62/308.

So far, I've only used the Pmags...the Gen2 30 rounders. All perfect. I did just pick up a couple of Pmag 10 round mags to use when bench rest shooting. I haven't tried them out yet, and they are the Gen 3 mags.

Okay, tried and true GI supplier. 44MAG.com - Wholesale Rifle and Pistol Magazines is one source for these. I believe the Surefeed 30s are all anti-tilts, probably Magpul followers.

I've always had good results with Magpul PMAGS and D&H Aluminum mags w/Magpul followers. I haven't had a reason to buy anything else. Of course, I haven't purchased magazines since the last time I found D&H Aluminum mags w/Magpul Followers on sale for $5.00 each and bought thirty of them.

Beware. The Lula is so easy to use that you will burn through so much more ammo than if you manually loaded.

I solve that issue by only transporting in my rifle case the number of magazines and rounds I intend to fire at that particular session.
Can't shoot what I didn't bring.

I'm sure all the magazine suggestions are fine. I'm partial to metal GI cases with quality no-tilt followers and quality spot-welds. The best new mags in recent times that I've seen is C-Products Defense grey-coated aluminum with no-tilt followers. (current 8.99 at natchezss - prod number CT3023002175 - third down on the product page)

I prefer the Striplula. Works on loose ammo and ammo on stripper clips.

I like the20 round mags, going prone quickly can give you a sore jaw with the 30's (don't ask). My brand of choice is NHMTG.
