Is it the first generation with the 1:8 twist barrel, or is it gen 1.5 with a 1:9 twist?

If it is the older one, it may be a good deal. If it has the 1:9 barrel, not so much... you can get them new for not much more.

Half price of my new one. Great deal. My cost $1030 in EU. Twist 1:9, nice and precise shooting with 55gr FMJ Hornady BT bullets. Has your rifle orig. S&W stock and taper for grenade launcher on barrel?

Then no. You're best off hunting down a M&P 15-Sport II. You'll get a full featured upper and the safety blanket of the 1 year warranty.

The only reason you'd want a Gen1 15-Sport is to get the Thompson Center, 1:8 5R, Melonite Treated, progressive gain twist barrel. S&W was absolutely out of their mind to equip the least expensive M&P 15 in the lineup with the best barrel.

The Sport 1 is a great buy if it`s 1/8 5r. If its in good shape I wouldnt hesitate.
1/9....then Im in agreement, just buy new.
