I just got in another 1K rounds of WOLF WPA POLYFORMANCE 55 gr .223 ammo Saturday.
My cousin came along with his new Armalite Sport AR, my son and I had our Ruger AR-556's, plus, I brought my Sport 1, and my neighbor had his Sport 2.
Things were going great.............UNTIL! My cousin bought a 180 count box of WWB 55 gr 5.56 ammo from Academy. This is a new product from Winchester, so he said.
Well, I loaded a 30 round Magpul mag. and started shooting my Sport 1. BANG, BANG, BANG, CLICK! I tried to clear the round but it got stuck. I removed the mag, pulled the charge handle back, and my son somehow fished it out. The bullet had counter sunk back into the cartridge! WTH! So, I blamed the mag and my son put it in his Ruger. Same thing, but, this time it was BANG, CLICK! Another FTF! (Failed To Feed) We cleared the chamber and looked at the bullet. You could see a big indentation where the extractor dented the cartridge and a gouged scratch mark down one side. WTH! My cousin then used another mag with the same ammo and got off about 5 rounds before it did it again. He cleared the jam, started shooting again, then after 3 rounds, CLICK! Same thing, the cartridge was indented from the extractor and had a gouge line down the side. WTH!
EVERYBODY had the same problem with this ammo! This ammo looks like reloads. The bullets that were not used and still in the box were looked at very close. Every one of them had a very small indentation where the extractor left its mark upon discharge from a previous time fired!
We finished the day with the WOLF ammo, and with not one malfunction! I know I won't be buying any of that WWB in the 180 round box!
