Default M&P Sport II: Initial shooting/issue.

So I've ventured back into the S&W world. It's been a while, but found a good deal on a NIB Sport II. Took it out shooting last weekend and ran about 80-100 rounds of 5.56 (M885 green tip) with no issues at all. It ran smooth and was more accurate than I was. Had a few targets out around 150-200m and I tagged them pretty good.

I've already swapped out/added a few items as I'm a southpaw. Some ambi controls and furniture.

Was running some reloading drills tonight (all dry/no ammo) and just happen to notice the dust cover was about to fall off... Awesome. Not a huge deal, just aggravating on a brand spanking new rifle.

The O-Jesus C-Clip is off to never never land...fantastic!!!

Just thought I would share my experience so far.

Good luck on finding a c-clip that small at your local Ace Hardware. It'll be quicker and less traumatic to call S&W and ask for a call tag if they won't send you a couple.

Yeah, I know. We have a selection at work that I'm going to dig through tomorrow. I was just talking to someone last week about the O-Jesus clips. I've had my fair share of fun with them.

Also just finished putting a ticket in with S&W customer service asking just that.

Hopefully, they will just send you the needed clip with a spare or two in case there are installation issues.

One thing to try, if you have a hobby shop close by, they might have the size you need. A of R/C cars use small C-clips like that on hinge pins. Just a thought.

It's more than likely an E clip. Here's a link

They're 1/8" low clearance c-clips, you can find them online, I ordered a bunch of spares from Fastenal.

Gawd those clips are a huge PIA to install too. Good luck, easy enough to diagnose though which is good.

I had a similar experience with my M&P15PS a few years ago. I wrote to S&W customer service and they sent me a Call Tag. I had no intentions of sending in my rifle for a small C-clip. I found an assortment of various sizes at Autozone, and one fit perfectly.

If it was designed to use a c-clip, I have found e-clips usually won't work. The ones I tried to use were easily popped off with little effort.

Yeah, definitely not sending my rifle in for such a small repair.

S&W hasn't even recognized my message/email yet. Great service on their part so far...

I've had a few people locally that have offered to give me a replacement.

They are easier to install than they are to remove. Use a pair of duck bill pliers.
