Default My first modification...with a glitch, or two, though...

My flashlight mount and remote switch pad came in today and I got it mounted on my rifle. However, as you can see in the second picture, there is no top screw in the flashlight mount. This is because the flashlight that I have is a little too big for it, thus causing it to not fit all of the way around it. It feels pretty sturdy, but only some rounds will tell, and I fear it will not be sturdy enough.

I have a few options:
1.) Get a longer screw and tighten it down as much as I can.
2.) File/sand down the inside of the flashlight mount.
3.) Buy another flashlight (my last option as I do not want to spend more money on a light when I already have one).

The second glitch is that I had/have to take off the front sling swivel in order to get the battery out to charge it. I would just leave it off but I have a new sling arriving today, so I will need somewhere to attach it. If anybody has a good idea of another place to attach it, any suggestions would be appreciated. It is a two point sling that can be converted into a one point sling, if that matters.

It really would not be that big of a deal to have to remove the swivel to charge the battery as I have not charged the battery in at least two, if not three, months and it is still going strong. The only issue I have with this route is that I do not want to mess up the pin by taking it in and out more than it probably should be.

Lastly, I just do not know what to do with the chord for the remote switch. It is a long chord, so I will have to find somewhere for it to go.

Sling swivel pin is riveted on one side. You can only take the pin out once, would need a new one to replace it.

Personally I'd just ditch that mount and call it lesson learned.

Is leaving the swivel/swivel pin out going to affect the front sight? Basically, is that part of what holds the front sight onto the barrel?

I agree with Dusty... if you want to use that light, then you need a different mount that it fits properly. If you want to keep that mount, then you need a different light.

Personally, I would go with a light made to be mounted on a weapon... I do not believe your light is made for this role.

No doesn't hold anything but swivel you can take it off and leave off if you like. Front sight / gas block is held on by two taper pins. One is directly above sling swivel rivet, other directly above bayonet lug.

I am not a fan of lights that have the remote switch, I prefer the tail cap switches myself. If you decide to keep the corded setup, about all you can do is velcro tape, zip ties, and/or tape, to keep it from tangling up on something or being torn off.

The swivel pin just holds the sling loop so it not being there shouldn't hurt anything but sling attachment. However there are lots of options for sling attachment even with a stock hand guard.

For what it is worth, I fired several magazines without any glitch in the light working. However, The mount did lose the top screw that I finally got in (missing in the picture in my OP). I have already taken it all off and have plans to to get either a laser or a different flashlight.
