Hi,
I just need to get some recommendations for a flashlight that attaches to the fore grip on my stock MP 15. Since I would most likely have to use it at night, I want to be able to light up my target before I "light it up".

1. Replace the stock heat shield less carbine length handguard with a drop in replacement that offers more flexibility in mounting accessories. Once you mount a light, you'll most likely want to mount a foregrip.

I bought a bracket for a Surefire Nitrolon G3 and positioned it so that my thumb can operate the rear button while gripping the vertical fore grip. Unfortunately, you need a quad rail for this to work correctly. Functions perfectly for my purposes . . .

I've been happy with my InForce WMLXs and Surefire X300U-Bs.

Same light as I use. Mine is an older TRL-1HL with 630 lumens that is more than enough with the beam pattern of the TRL-1 HL. A super bright center core and enough light to the outer edges to see threats in those areas.

I don't know what handguard you are planning to use, but I've been looking at the Surefire M300 Scout with Throntail mount.

I've got a 9in handguaurd. My support hand extends to the end which leaves no room for a light. The Thorntail extends the M300 beyond the handguard (or in more if you like). The offset design keeps it tucked in close and puts the tailcap switch where my thumb is. Impact Weapons Components sells the combo for $269. They also have other lights and mounting solutions. Great AR candy store.

+1 on the Inforce. I use it on my duty rifle. 200 lumens is plenty also. Perfect ergonomically.

I have Surefire x200 mounted on a front sight picatinny rail adapter on one AR. Additionally, I have old Surefire E series L4's mounted in Sector Gear mounts on the quad rail on my MP15A and MP15OR carbines.

I don't believe that any of these lights are over 100 lumens. Even though I don't feel that light deprived despite these lights not being over 100 lumens, I guess it may be time to upgrade the lights, looking at what is available these days.

I duct taped a candle on to my AR's. Just light the candle when needed.

I would buy a Streamlight. I have two and would like to get the newest one. I don't mount any on a gun, however.

Pretty much anything Surefire, Streamlight, Inforce or Fenix is good to go. I have experience with all of the above and no complaints. Both the rechargeable and disposable battery run ones work well for me.

+1 Also, putting it on an M-lok cantilever mount will get it as far forward as possible and leave more room on the handguard.
