A few months ago I bought my AR-556 from this gun dealer. It was $599 plus shipping. The Sport 2 was $579. Does anyone think that S&W is raising prices to dealers and they are passing it onto the consumer? Or, the dealers are just price gouging! I would suspect the latter. Opinions?

when I bought mine, the guy at my LGS told me they've seen no increase from their suppliers, alot of the price increases are dealers gouging

MY Small LGS has been the same price to the past 3 months! I check his site daily in case I have to buy something I did not know I needed till I saw it :O

When I bought mine, late June, I found one shop that had it for 599+tax and fees. Every other place had them for 699. When I picked it up, 10 days later, the lgs had raised their price to 699. That was after Gov. Moonbat signed SB880. Other then that, haven't seen any price increases, even though some shops can't keep them in stock.

I received a Field & Stream flyer in the mail today. They have the M&P Sport II at $599. That's the same price I paid at my local Field & Stream store a few months ago.

I have found that GRABAGUN.COM keeps moving their firearm prices all over the place. For instance, the AR-556 is currently being sold (out of stock) for $607.01. I have seen GAG's price on it at $659, $626, $611, and what I paid for it, $599. I keep a log book of website prices on certain firearms. Why? Because I am at home most of the time and friends and family call me for the best price and where, for certain firearms.
Some of you might remember me talking about how small the town I live in with only 1 LGS within 50-60 miles. I also stated how he was price gouging on his AR's. I was in there yesterday to look around and he has 2 Sport 2's priced at $699! He has 1 Ruger AR-556 priced at $707!
The owner asked me (he does this every time I visit his store) again if I am ready to sell him my Sport 1. It has the 1:8 5R Melonite treated barrel. And as usual, I tell him no.
BTW, my best friend and I traded back rifles so I now have my Sport 1 again. It's a very long and very interesting story.

Honestly I am not sure why people are paying anything over $600 for the Sport these days. There are complete rifles which are better values for less.

The Sport was one of the best values on the market at the $499 price tag but at $499 not so much.

You can get an Aero complete rifle OTD for less than a Sport II and it has better specs.

You can get a Blem PSA with an upgraded stock and grip like the STR or Moe for $159. Add a Complete M4 1/7 twist upper with BCG and charging handle for $299 If you shop right you will get free shipping. Add a $40 BUIS and you have a $500 complete rifle.

Both will serve you as well or better than a $650 Sport II.

HOLY OOSTOCK there Batman! I had received that ad this AM in my regular P.A.'s email ad I get regularly. After coming home from the doctor and running several errands, it was still in stock (2:30 CST) when I posted the thread. I originally read the email at 5:30 this AM. They don't last long, do they? Can we say that the "PANIC" is escalating?

I will actually pull up the ammo screen from TS (usually for 22lr or 9mm) and just watch throughout the day for the entertainment value of how fast that stuff flys out the door
