Default Another Noob ?

I will be a Noob AR owner soon I know squat!!!!. The Sport 2 will be my first I am pretty sure,I really want to stay under 700$ but would got to 1k$ if it is really worth it!
BUT I have looked at the higher end Ars as well as the S&W Sport 2 and Colts Expanse as well. and see a lot come w/o a rear sight! Any rhyme or reason why? I know people like to upgrade sights but also like to shoot the stocker first! I did like the iron sights on my A1 back in 71.
What is a avg price /brand for good rear sight?
Thank for any help! And I am trying the search box, I do know how to use that lol
Rich

Depends on the type of irons you want: carry handle, folding, or fixed. Also depends on if you want to go new or used.

For fixed rear sights: Troy, Midwest Industries or Daniel Defense. These will be in the $50 to $70 range new.

For folding rear sights Troy, Midwest Industries, Yankee Hill Machine, there are others but I listed the ones I have had experience with. Prices anywhere from $60 or so on sale to over $100. There are Magpuls as well, both plastic and metal, can't remember prices on them at the moment.

With respect to carry handle sights, mil-spec ones are always best but they range $70 to $120 new depending on which manufacturer you get them from. I have gotten Colt take offs used in the past for as little as $10. There are some off brands out there but you gamble with the quality sometimes.

I really like the Sport, but if you can afford to go up to a grand, my advise would be to pick up a Colt LE6920.

Here's one with scope and upgraded furniture for $999.

CDNN SPORTS - COLT LE6920 556 M4 SCOPE LASER CUSTOM PKG

Or you can pick up an LE6920 OEM1 or 2 (depending if you want the pinned F-base front sight post or not) for about $800 and pick your own furniture.

If you want to spend more like $600...then the Sport 2 is a great choice.

Thank you for the advice that is what I am looking for! If I have to get rear sights I would prefer to stay under 100$ Plus I would like a Red Dot on extended mounts so I can use either like I do w/my 10/22, I have read about having to Co Witness with that set up.

Some AR's come without a rear sight , because people put on a scope , and don't want to pay extra for a sight they will never use. However, if you buy one without a rear sight, there are a ton of aftermarket sights around for you to choose from.
