*Updated*Upgrades to my Sport 2 New Final Build Pictures...
OK new additions to my M&P Sport 2''
Along with my Vortex Strikefire 2 and Fab defence Butt Stock I added a Monstrum Aluminum extended Quadrail that drops in over the A2 site as well as a cut out for the sling mount so nothing had to be removed....
Fab Defence Vertical handgrip wound up being the China knockoff so not sure how it will stand up but seems OK for now....The new Quadrail package adds very little weight compared to the Magpul setup..Plus it adds a ton more rail space for my future needs and for 40 bucks it was a great deal...
Added a few rail covers so no contact with any hot rails during an extended shoot...

Not a big fan of the mag in the stock. I much prefer to carry extra mags on a belt or in a chest rig. Don't like the idea of taking the gun out of the fight to change a mag. If I need an extra mag I want it fight ready. If I am just carrying it there are better ways. IMHO but if you are happy I am happy.
The rest looks good.

Also don't mount that flashlight on the barrel unless you know for sure youll never ever ever remove it. Clamping it down on the barrel changes harmonics. If you sight it in that way....leave it, because if you take it off or move it your point of aim and point of impact will change. In other words youll have to re sight the rifle again. I suggest you put it on the front sight or the handguard

The flashlight is mounted on the Bayonet lug VIA a Rail attachment not the barrel...
Although the angle of the picture does make it look like its barrel mounted...
As for the Fab stock I would never use anything other than the 10 round magazine which hides the magazine completly, and it would be used as an emergency backup only...
I like the Fab stock compared to the Magpul MOE it replaced..
Its a bit thicker and fits tighter and its a lot more comfortable on the shoulder with the thicker butt plate...

I like it. What kind of scope is that?
Also like your choice of carry pistol. I carry the same model.

Your Sport looks great And good to hear you like the Strikefire2 as I am looking at one myself!
Now as a AR/Sport Noob(2 weeks new) you mentioned you picked up a 9mm Wolf barrel so you can shoot 9mm.
Have you used it yet?
if so how do you like it?
Please do a review when you do the swap over!
What else did you have to change to make the 9mm work? As mentioned I am AR Super New Noob so sorry for dumb questions?
Thanks Rich

I agree with Arik. I could be wrong but the bayonet lug is part of the barrel and I believe if you take it off it will change the harmonics of the barrel.

The 9mm barrel is for the pistol; it's a simple barrel and magazine swap to shoot 9mm instead of .40.

Bayonette lug is part of the FSB, it is not part of the barrel.

I think what the guy you are responding to is saying is that the sight is attached to the barrel, so in essence the light is being hung off the barrel.
What bearing that may have on the accuracy of the rifle, I'm not going to venture to guess. I just think that is where he is going with his comment.

There are 9mm AR carbines (Colt even made a 9mm subgun for a while, but it couldn't compete with the fame of the MP5), but it requires a lot of modification.
Google 'AR 9mm conversion' There are a number of links.

Have a couple more upgrades ordered for my Sport 2 ...
Its going to drastically change the looks.....
I will post pictures as soon as they are installed...
I swore when I purchased the AR I would not fall into this trap....
Oh well...

You should see what it takes to make an AR45!
I like the idea but not that much!

It's been done. It's been a while since I've seen or hear of one. It required a magazine adaptor, a special bolt, and a barrel reamed to .45ACP.
The only reason it even peaked my interest was because my carry pistols are .45ACP, so I already had the ammo. Pistol caliber rifles aren't exactly my thing.

OK..
Grabbed another Rail for my Sport 2...This time it was a 13" Keymod drop on rail that slipped over the A2 Sight as well a hole for the sling mount..so as with the quad rail no removal of the stock parts and works with the Delta ring...
Much lighter and slimmer than the quadrail and I like the longer length...

With a drop rail everything in essence is hung off the barrel since the handguard attaches to the A2 post which of course attaches to the barrel. Gets you thinking why free floating is really the way to go.

How solid is the forward part of the keymod rail? Does it move around a bit or would it hold zero with a laser sight mounted there? Looks real good, and solves the front gas block problem for a long extended rail.
Thanks for your input

Rock Solid...
Has 6 Allen screws that hold the 2 pieces together together and it slips under the delta ring as well as the ring just behind the A2 sight so no movement whatsoever...
It also comes with two Accessory KeyMod to Picatinny Rail Sections One Short (3 KM slots/ 5 slot Picatinny) and one Medium Length (5KM slots/ 11 slot Picatinny) Picatinny Rail sections so my flashlight and foregrip with built in Bipod were easily attached...

That's why my AR15 and M&P10 are free floated. My ATI MFOUR-22 is more of a fun and training rifle, so not a concern.
Free floating for a .22LR caliber rifle that might be able to hit things at 125 yards at best, doesn't seem worth it to me and it makes the kids learn to shoot better and with iron sights.
