First Time 100 Yards :)
Sighted in my new VORTEX Red Dot on my New Sport II ! I never shot 100 yards before or a Red Dot but a buddy helped me out. And Man 100 yards and 63 y/o eyes do not see much of a target lol
Adjusted a few times tried Red and Green and even bagged a Zombie. 10 rounds at the Zombie hit 5 times Missed the girl This old fart is a happy camper Not great shooting but for me I think ok ..
FYI the first few targets sucked so I did not post them :O lol

That is fine shooting for a red dot.
Shooting off a bench or standing?

Thanks , That was off a bench on a set of rest bags I just picked up!, Now I know the Dot and Iron sights are zeroed in I will try standing and see how a 63 y/o can shoot lol , I do know that off hand I need alot of work to steady my aim. I do not hunt anymore so if I am off target I am not worried about a wound shot ! I need to work on breathing and squeezing off the shot smoother when I shoot off hand, SO off hand I will stay around 25/50 yards max

Start at 25 yards. Use a standard person sized target. Because you're zeroed in at 100 yards, a perfect hit will be about 1.5" low. That's exactly where it should be.
Take your time. Point in and start building pressure on the trigger. Concentrate on keeping the dot on the target. Eventually the gun will fire and it should be a slight surprise. Concentrate on the dot and just build pressure on the trigger.
I think you'll be surprised how well you'll do.

Thanks and love your target lol they must be sisters
AT 50 yards I did OK while sighting in, At 100 all I could see was the paper, forgot to adjust the dot lol so IMO these are more Luck shots but hope to make more skilled shots as I grow Who said yu can not teach a old dog new tricks

That is decent shooting for 100 yards with a red dot. I get about 2 inch groups at 100 yards with a red dot and bulk 55gn. ammo. I can't claim that I have 63 year old eyes... not until this coming Saturday. Ha! Anyway, I can hit 10 inch steel plates at 300 yards. So, man sized targets are easy out to 300 yards. Its not "precision" shooting, but good "combat" shooting.

Thanks, I know I will be doing better the more I shoot and get used to a Red Dot and the AR.. I am using Federal 55Gr. 100 Pack. Good ammo but not match ammo .. I am just happy with me hitting the paper at 100 yards. and getting 30 Rounds into the Target The Zombie was 50/50 but still happy lol
Now if I can get 2" groups I will be REALLY happy

It's hard to get a 2" group at 100 yards with a red dot. Most have dots that are 3MOA or larger. The smallest I know of is 2MOA. A 2MOA dot covers 2" at 100 yards. This makes it very difficult to get a group that small. It can be done, it's just not easy.
I shot this group from 50 yards using a red dot that is a 2MOA dot:
If I can do it, so can you. Little bit of luck in that group if you ask me.

Very nice group! Thanks for the info! I plan on 50 yards most of the time but now 100 is on the list

I do well with my Vortex Strikefire II as well, at 100 yards I am really impressed with this unit. Worth every penny and the some....

You treat the dot sort of the same way you treat aperture sights on a target rifle. Center the 3" dot in a 6" black with even amounts of black all around. With an aperture, you center the black in the aperture with even amounts of white all around. Common for a decent shooter to shoot 1/4 inch groups at 50 yards with a capable small bore target rifle.
