Over the Columbus Day Holiday, I took my M&P15 Sport II to the family farm for a day of sighting-in and shooting.
Although I have loaded thousands of rounds of .223 Remington, I purchased a box of .223 Remington cartridges so that the first rounds would be factory rounds and if there was a problem, it could not be blamed on my reloaded ammunition.
The commercial ammunition functioned flawlessly firing from both aluminum magazines from Palmetto State Armory (PSA) and stainless steel magazines from CDNN Investments. I switched to my own reloads (60 grain Hornady bullet over 20.3 grains of IMR4198 or 55 grain FMJ over 23.2 grains of IMR 3031) and the rifle likewise functioned flawlessly.
Right out of the box, the auxiliary sights couldn't even get the shots onto a 2 foot by 4 foot target. Once these were adjusted, each 10 round string fired into a 25 meter sighting-in target could be covered with a quarter.
