Default Pursuit X1 Prism Sight and Mini reflex combo

Does anybody have this sight? If so, what are your thoughts? I am thinking I can use this combo to hunt with, as well as for target shooting. What I like about it is that I can use the scope for hunting, and I can use the reflex sight for quicker target acquisition while at the range.

I don't have one but initial thought is good luck zeroing that mini red dot mounted on top of the scope... it is too high and you won't be able to get a proper cheek weld.

Two optics for $119, with one being magnified... I would pass. You mention hunting as a use. For a hunting optic, you need good quality glass that can pass light at dusk and dawn. The difference between a cheap optic and good glass can be five to ten extra minutes of shooting time at dawn or dusk... may not seem like much, but that is when many animals are moving about.

Just ask my son. We were sitting side by side and I could see the hogs as clear as day through my Nikon Monarch. He couldn't see anything through his Burris scope.

This is not an uncommon configuration. But the red dot is very high over the bore. Still, some very high end optics come in this configuration:

However, I think the red dot is too high for me. So, I went with this set up:

The idea is to use the ACOG for shots past 25 yards and the RMR closer in. In this configuration they are both at the same height over bore. This makes for a better cheek weld when using the RMR than having it mounted above the other optic.

Trying to save money on the optic is usually disappointing and money wasted. Take your time and find a good optic. The one you linked in the OP isn't it.

I Have this on my 15-22. No problems with the Prism optic for about a year so far. Holds zero. My 1st red dot failed at 6 months and Bass Pro replaced it no questions asked.

On a .22 rifle, I wouldn't hesitate to get an optic like this. However, we're not talking about a .22 here.

This is my main beef with cheap optics; reliability.

Forget "if your life depends on it" for a moment. When I go to the range, I want to shoot my guns. Doing that is fun to me. If my optic fails, I'm not having fun. Even if they replace it for free, I still lost some time and I don't want that.

This is just one more reason I want high quality optics. I want them to work every time. So, I save my pennies and get one that will provide me with that service.
