I have a Sport II that has operated flawless and very accurate out to 50 yards ( as far as I have shot it). Also, I have a Ruger 1911 5" and I think it is a great shooter! After several hundred rounds, no jams, FTF, just a well made 1911! Just my opinion.

I figured out the OP's Buddies plan... he actually wants a S&W Sport and has started bad mouthing the OP's gun in hopes of getting it cheap.... very sneaky...

try not to confuse inexpensive with cheap... less money does not equal less quality... I have had the opportunity to spend lots of range time with both expensive and inexpensive weapons... for the most part the inexpensive ones are excellent bang for the bucks... I dislike range snobs...

Your buddy is the kind of guy that I would love to put my Sport up against his AR at the range, and "reeducate him".

Those rifles can be excellent. The military has adopted them for many roles and still use them I believe. But the AR has supplanted the old M1A and other rifles as the GI rifle of choice for all but the specialists. The specialists still sometimes use those M1A's or M14's as they call them.

That's not saying the AR is a bad design. It isn't. It's been developed really well over the years too. And the S&W version is a perfect example of a low price / high quality rifle. You can't get better than "works every time" and when you have one that shoots accurate what else is there? Maybe it won't survive a sandstorm or an avalanche but not many weapons will.

Your buddy has no idea what he's talking about and since he doesn't even own a AR he has zero credibility in my opinion. I honestly can't tell you how many thousands of rounds I have put through my M&P Sport and 9/10 times it has ran flawlessly. The few hang ups I have had with it have been minor and I chalked it up to bad ammo or it needed to be cleaned. I would put it up against my Colt or Daniel Defense any day..
