Default Lack of suficient description.

Anyone else find the lack of a sufficient description of various items you may be interested in for your AR a bit irritating?

And for the most part, it does not matter the Brand. high end or low end..

***EXAMPLE ONLY***..Item listed on a site..

"This rail/riser is sturdy and works on any picinal rail system"
The end..

No mention of Height.. IE low profile? 1/2in? 3/4in? what?,
what is the exact length?

"The perfect lighting for your AR"..
The new (insert whatever) is rated at 500 Lumens, is 4.7 inches long, and weighs 11onces..

The end..

No mention of diameter..

And it goes on and on...

So you go to the reviews in hopes of SOMEONE? posting the information you are wanting to know, but what you find is..

Rail fits! Great buy, highly recommend!
or
Did not work for my AR and application.. (*** is YOUR application?)

Light is very bright!.. (Thanks, who'd a thunk it!)
Light is MUCH bigger in person then it appears in the Pics!.
(well do tell? how big IS the ***?, write a paragraph on how bright and big it is etc.. But don't include a measurement whatever you do.)

What online retailers are you perusing? The reputable vendors are usually very descriptive.

Agreed. Even many reputable ones wont always have the weight of something or length at times. I find myself scanning multiple sites or forums to get the specs I need, but I'm rarely deterred from buying from the original place on account of the description.

ohh man, as many items as I have looked up, researched yada yada, t would be a pretty big list..

I think it would be a lot easier and more helpful if you could post what all web sites have full descriptions of anything, and everything an AR owner might be interested in?
thanks!

One of the main reasons I like buying from my LGSs. Always get a good eyes on for what I'm after.

Never had a problem with Brownells. They have a great website, customer service and only a few hour drive if I want to make a road trip. I make a LOT of orders through them.

Also had good luck with Midway USA too.

Of the ones I use, Midway generally has the best descriptions/specs. And many times better than the manufacturers websites do. But seems like I'm always looking at specs on optics, so I may be talking out of my ace here when it comes to everything else. I do believe they were the best on listing the weights on handguards last time I was looking. And of course, I peruse several peoples reviews (which take the good with the bad there) and try and form around others experiences.

I like to buy from my LGS too, but alas they don't carry most of the parts I am ever looking for.

Primary Arms is another great site with awesome descriptions, sizes and feedback on items.

Not really.

I figure if a seller can't be bothered to include a complete description of what it is they are selling, they won't be bothered to make sure the package contains the right item, that it's package securely, that they're shipping it to the right address or that they'll respond if there's a problem.

Thus, I treat such listings as background noise and I don't buy from them.
