Default Is there a way

Is there a way to date the rifle with just a serial number?

The only way would be to contact S&W.

Keep in mind that the modular nature of the AR-15 means that unless you know what to look for, buying a used rifle can be hit or miss. Someone could have swapped uppers on that lower. S&W sells serialized stripped lowers marked M&P 15.

If you have a factory complete rifle, posting a picture will help.

If its a new rifle in stock formation you can call the company. If it's used....your guess is as good as mine.
