Default New Sport configs from factory

Anybody noticed the new configs of the Sport 2 that are available?

One with Magpul MOE M-Lok hand guard... (not sure why they didn't upgrade the stock as well)

M&P(R)15 SPORT II™ with MAGPUL(R) MOE(R) M-LOK(R) | Smith & Wesson

Optics Ready Sport II (no need to remove that pesky A2 gas block)

Yup I saw those. With the optic ready one I would assume for some longer slim free floating rails you will still have to remove the gas block and install low profile gas block. These days with M-lok and Keymod being the newest rage I am willing to bet most people will still have to remove the block. I believe that was the case with the older optic ready M&P.

It looks like the S&W knows what people are doing with their Sport IIs.

Anybody seen these in the wild? Curious as to how they are priced compared to the baseline Sport II.

The sku shows up at a few online shops but no pricing. MSRP only show $40 difference on the MOE M-lok and the optics ready is $20 less.

That's all I have found too... I'm betting there is more of a delta between real world pricing vs. MSRP since there are more baseline Sports out there.

M&P(R)15 SPORT™ II Optics Ready | Smith & Wesson

Nice. Wish that had been out a few months ago when I bought my Sport II.

I think S&W has been watching the budget DIY AR15 project guns and is making complete guns priced to compete with that market with a lifetime warranty. And as WVSig said, they also are watching how people modify their Sport II's. I'll bet at some point they have a model with Magpul FDE furniture on it.

Can't wait for the "how do I remove the railed gas block so I can free float a rail" threads and "can I mount <insert plastic folding sight> onto the gas block?" threads.

Maybe I should make a WTB ad for Sport II take off railed gas blocks.
