Question BCM VS MAGPUL Pistol Grips

I am considering buying some pistol grips for my (2) entry level AR's, and (1) for the AR I am currently building as well. Of course, they will have to be bought (1) at a time, due to lack of funds to purchase all (3) at the same time.
I like the MAGPUL MOE series, but, also like the BCM Mod 3 pistol grip. Which of the (2) that I have stated here do you like? I am kind of leaning towards the BCM, but, like the MAGPUL as well. Decisions, decisions!

What's wrong with the grip that came on your Ruger? I thought that was one of the selling points.

Really the same difference. Whichever feels better in your hand.

BCM offers 3 or 4 different sizes.

BCM is hard plastic, Magpul MOE+ is rubber coated. I find the MOE+ far superior in gripping and use them exclusively. I have a BCM sitting in my extra parts bin becuase I didn't like it.

Maybe this will help... The MOE and the BCM are very different grips...

But the MOE K2+ and the BCM are similar, both with the steeper grip angle. The BCM is still a little larger but the K2+ feels pretty close to the same size to me.

So maybe it won't help...

Guess you will just have to find a shop that has all of these grips on mock ups so you can try them out Disabled1...

Agreed. I have the K2+ on two of my guns, one being a pistol and the other I use as my HD gun. Both the steeper grip anlge helps because of the closeness to the body I hold them. I try to train with my HD gun with the stock pretty much collapsed and the pistol has a check weld so.......

I just like the rubber outers of MOE+ models, I have the regular MOE+ on two other of my standard rifles and love that grip too.

Hogue overmold w/beavertail and no finger grooves is my favorite. His stocks are really nice too.

If the grip on the Ruger AR15 is the same as their Precision Rifle, I found it to be way too slick. Replaced it with a spare Magpul MOE grip, which helped. The RPR is a very heavy gun and I felt like my hand was constantly slipping carrying it until the grip change.

I have a couple of various Hogue overmolded grips. They're pretty nice. Mine are the older ones before the beavertails became available. The beavertails feel better.

Disabled1 - Have you looked at the Magpul MIAD grip? It is an aggressively textured grip, more so that the MOE. It has two interchangeable front straps, and three interchangeable back straps. It also comes with a plug that holds a small oil bottle, also included, but they offer plugs that hold various batteries, or a spare bolt head and firing pin. For an AR15 you want the Type 1 version. The Type 2 is for some AR10's that the Type 1 won't fit.

I know you were only asking/interested in the two grips you mentioned, but still wanted to throw this out there, which is what I am currently using, and love it!

That is a very nice grip! I will take that one into consideration. BTW, great website as well. Bookmarked!
cyphertext, the only thing I don't like about the Ruger grip, as well as my Sport I, is they're plastic. Here's the ironic part; I can't stand Hogue grips! But, for an AR/any rifle with a pistol grip, I want a rubber type grip. Slap me silly and call me Willy, but, that's just moi.
Even though I'm disabled, I can still do teaching/computer/writing jobs to earn a few $$$ here and there. That = to AR parts, gun parts, ammo, etc.!

Another vote for the K2+. Fits my hand real well and the rubberized surface doesn't have a spongy feel. At least for me works as well off hand as is does when shooting from the bench. Just wish I didn't have to give it up at the end of the year.

From what has been offered up, I'd go with the MOE+, but both of mine have Hogue beavertails on them and I'm partial to the rubbery grip feel.

That is a very nice looking grip. It looks like it absorbs a lot of shock.

A second vote for the MAID. I didn't like the finger bump on the "standard" grip, and the "beavertail" on the MOE grip. The MAID grip has the same texture as the MOE, but is more customizeable. I keep a bore snake in the grip compartment.

I really like the way you've set your Sport up there, very nice! May I ask where you got the floor plate on your pmag? Never seen one that works as a stand like that, that's really cool.

Might I be so bold as to suggest you finish it off with a BCM M4 hand guard with heat shields. Would be pretty much perfect then and a cheap upgrade at $18.95.

Here's a pic of the grip I posted about above, so you can see the angle etc actually installed.. of the various optional front and backs, I ended up liking the ones already on it, when delivered.. it is rubber, but a semi hard rubber, sorta like a car Tire, VS inner tube, I really like the feel..

I just bought the MOE today. I think my crippled hands are going to like the change over the stock Sport grips.

I found them in a "tactical" gun store near me. They're called MagPods. They only work on Gen2 magazines.

How do you like that Scorpion? My cousin got one last week. I didn't care for the squishy side to side motion of the rubber part, but that was only when you pick the gun up with one hand. To hold and shoot, it felt pretty nice to me. Its a fat grip, but did not move me off the trigger any.

I have yet to shoot it standing up, but in shooting from a bench it is a very comfortable grip. One thing that I did not like about the stock grip is that it did not feel right in my hand, but when I am shooting this one it just feels right. Everyone that has seen it and held the gun with the grip on it has commented at how good the grip feels

I have not had a chance to shoot it standing up yet, just from the bench. It does have some side to side movement, but from a bench it was not noticeable and did not make shooting any different. Although it is a "fatter" grip i think that the squishyness makes the grip a lot smaller to actually use then it looks. I find it very comfortable to shoot with, I think the fatness helps with a good placement of the finger in the trigger area.
Hoping to head to a different range this week and try it out
