Nice little add-on for my Sport II
I put a Odin extended mag release on. I lost the tip of my trigger finger in a work accident and this little gizmo lets me hit the release without loosening my hold on the grip. Glad I found it.

If someone were to ask me what it was about my AR that kinda gets on my nerves.. it would have been the Mag release..
common/typical I know..
but it just don't like it.. (I SOMETIMES have a finger issue my self, and have found the stock setup to be a pain)..
Ordered a the black Odin about five minutes ago.. thanks for posting!

You're welcome. Whenever I saw that I thought "gotta have that". It is super easy to install and gives a small custom look to the rifle. I actually saw one from Battle Arms Development first but after looking around on the net I came across the Odin and liked that it extended a little farther out.

I watched one you-tube video on the install and saw it was really simple to do. Had no trouble at all.

Interesting. It seems that the arched trigger guard moves my hand just far enough to make reaching the mag release with my trigger finger a stretch. I find myself wondering if using my second finger to shoot with might be more practical WITH the standard release.

Huh? What does the trigger guard have to do with that?

The larger trigger guard, being a bit more distant from the trigger, causes the second finger to rest lower, resulting in a slightly lower grasp and slightly spreading of the trigger and second fingers. This also slightly increases the distance and angle to the mag release.
It is apparently not noticeable to your hand, but I find it a bit uncomfortable to reach the mag release, as compared to a regular, straight trigger guard. It's enough that I will make sure any lowers I get in the future have the regular guard.

Being I shoot left handed, it wouldn't do me any good. But, it sure would look cool on my AR's.

Your reply made me go get my rifles out and compare. I have several lowers made by different vendors. The Sport, Spike's Tactical, CMMG... all with the A2 grip. Only the Sport has the integral, enlarged trigger guard. I feel no difference whatsoever between the 3 lowers. My second finger rests in the exact same place on all 3... right below the ear where the pin holds the guard in place, or where that would be on the Sport. That area is the same on all 3. It doesn't come in contact with the area where the trigger guard is enlarged at all.

NOW you've given me the itch to find an AR with a regular, flat trigger guard and see how it feels to my hand!

I seen that as well and considered it for a minute, But got to wondering about what if I am wearing jersey gloves or the like, might the fabric get caught in the holes? etc..
also I was thinking maybe dirt, or what not might start accumulating in them?
I ended up going with the original/first Version, but to each their own..

I looked at it just thee opposite .. the holes will allow dirt to fall out or allow you to see it and then clean the back of it .. solid you might cake dirt behind it .. also with the holes you could take something small and clean it thru the holes ..
Different views ..
