Default Nikon p223 3x32

First off, I'm new to the forum and to the M&P 15 rifles. Picked one up last week (sport II) from SMGA. (they are running a sale for 499.99 right now btw) I just ordered the Nikon P-223 3x32 Carbine scope, and was wondering if anyone had been running one and if there was any positive or negative feedback on it. From what i have seen so far, the scope has pretty good reviews. I ordered the p-series rings for it, but may go a different route. I will be shaving down the front sight and free-floating the barrel eventually.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I don't have the Nikon P223 3x32mm scope but a close friend of mine has one on his AR 15 and he says it works great. I have two of the Nikon P223 3-9x40mm scopes on two of my AR-15's and the are excellent scopes.

I mounted the Nikon P-223 3x32 BDC on my 300 Blackout upper. So far so good. 3x is not much magnification though, especially for older eyes like mine. But it does seem to be a well built scope and it holds zero well.

It is not exactly crystal clear at 100 yards, but that is probably my eyes. It does have a diopter focus, so that helps some. I like that you can set the turret caps to zero once it is sighted in.

Using Nikon's Spot On app is also very helpful in determining Bullet drop at different zero ranges.

I also own a Rock River that i love and it is set up for much longer range. I wanted this one to be a short to mid range set up. Excited to learn the ins and outs of this rifle, and it will be my first personal "built not bought" gun, so to speak. That is to say, taking a basic carbine and doing more to it than just furniture.

Just out of curiosity, what distance did you start with on your scope? (to get it zeroed in)

I zeroed mine at 50 yards and then checked it at 100 where it was about 2.0 inches high with the ammo I was shooting. This should put it back close to zero at 200 yards.

I have one and on the rifle it works ok, I also have the p-series rings.

My complaint is more with the rings, they have to slide on and off the rails. So if you want back up sights you have to remove the rear one to get the scope off.

I don't use mine much anymore, I keep my Aimpoint PRO on my sport II upper with the rear flip up sight.

I have an extra complete upper receiver (DD M4W11 PRO) that I switch out at the range. I tried the nikon with it but it just didn't have the magnification I was looking for.

Added a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x 44mm scope on a burris quick detach mount and now I can still use my back up flip up sights if I need to.

Here's an older pic with the nikon mounted, if you never want to switch it out with a red dot and back up sights I'm sure you will be happy with it.
