Angry M&P15FT stock removal?

So I recently got a MP15FT which comes with a fixed stock. I want to change the stock to a collapsible one. I have heard of people drilling out a pin but it seems like mine only has a pin near the buffertube. Would I have to drill the pin near the buffertube out? Anyone who has changed their stock to a collapsible one, could you please help a fella out.

If I remember correctly, you are going to have to get a whole new receiver extension (buffer tube)... Your current one does not have the holes allowing the stock to lock in at various lengths.

If you are in a state that allows collapsible stocks, why did you buy a fixed stock version?

Take a look at this thread... Engine Earl shows the NJ compliant receiver extension and the stock will only lock into the single position.

I have seen it, do I have to take the stock off in order to change the buffer tube? I don't know how I will get the stock off if I do. My stock is not same as their stock.

Yes.

And remember this: On an AR15 every rigid part is connected to a spring.

When the springs fly out, be somewher you won't lose them.

It was a mistake on my part. I live in Colorado so i'm okay to have an adjustable stock. Do you know if I will have to remove the stock to get the buffer tube off?

If you have the standard stock, then no, you don't have to remove it to remove the receiver extension... however, you need to be aware of what all is held in place by that tube! I suggest you watch some videos on how to build an AR, or take it to a gunsmith.

The stock does not need to be removed. It'll spin around with the receiver extension tube to unscrew from the lower receiver just fine.

Edit: Cypher beat me to it again.

Dont bother removing the pin. The FT has a proprietary buffer tube. It is longer than a carbine tube while bored out the same depth as a carbine tube. It has a threaded bolt where the "adjustment" mechanism would be.

Buy a new mil-spec 7075 carbine receiver extension/buffer tube.
