Default BiPod Suggestions

Sorry if this issue has been hammered on here but I couldnt find anything recent on it...I bought a UTG BiPod for my sport 2 but it only went to 7.9 inches which was not high enough to securely balance the gun for it to stand up on its own when i had a 30 round magazine in it...so i am going to get a bit taller of one...is an 8-12 inch a good height to go with or am I overlooking something. Also, on the BiPod I am returning to the seller I can't figure out how to attach the part of the BiPod that allows the gun to rotate around freely (if that makes sense). I would like to have this feature if it will work with the gun...?

Harris has bipods of various heights and with tilt option. They also have pivot and quick detach accessories.

I've been using Harris for almost three decades. Bought my son a couple of Harris bipods for Christmas a few years ago.

There are a couple of companies making clones that are significantly cheaper, but I won't buy them. I'll gladly pay more for Harris.

Don't know anything about swivel bipods but definitely get one with the greatest distance between open and closed.

I shoot from what ever is available at my friends range.Sometimes I get the kiddie chair and sometimes I get the kiddie table.

I bought my Harris bipods (5) in the early 1980's. My bipods are doing much better than I am. Buy quality and you never regret the purchase.

EDIT: When I bought my bipods, Harris was affordable even though they had a new patent that stopped the copy cats. Midsouth and Midway both had frequent sales. I bought 2 of them used from the gun shop where I worked, one as a customer, one as an employee.

I bought a Champion bipod and I love it. There isn't one thing wrong with the quality. It's made from quality metal and very sturdy. It also adjusts on two pivots with a quick release lever that locks the horizontal pivot and the rotation pivot (which allows you to adjust for uneven terrain) and it does it quickly and very well. It locks solidly and it stays put when you lock it. The uneven ground feature on a Harris doesn't even exist. You can get a locking horizontal rotation. It will cost you about 3 times the cost of a Champion. The Champion with these features costs $45 on Amazon. A Harris that tilts to deal with uneven terrain costs $107 on Amazon. As far as I can tell you can't lock that rotation in place on that bipod - that's a fairly new design for them and I haven't actually seen one anywhere - they didn't make this when I was buying my bipod AFAIK. The rotation adapter for the Harris with quick release costs another $80. Harris makes a fine bipod. So does Champion. For a lot less money. I've never had a single problem with my Champion.

BTW if you want to mount to a rail you'll need an adapter for that. Harris makes one that will work with any stud mounted bipod to convert from mounting to a sling stud to a rail. You can get those from Amazon for $9.

I thought about whether I wanted to go with a Harris or not when I was looking to buy a bipod. I just couldn't see paying 4 times as much. There isn't one thing wrong with the Champion I own.

There are models with different heights. I did find this article about them that contains the model numbers. The article talks about them winning Field And Streams Best Of The Best award.
