Gas block ?
Well, I'm proudly a member of the S&W gun family now.
Very happy to find this forum, I have a MP sport 2 optics ready.
I want to replace the foregrip with mod rail..
This one...
Diamondhead VRS T-556-KeyMod AR-15 Handguard 13.5" - 2235 - 857880003788
Will I have to replace the gas block ?
Who sells the best ones?
Is this a project for a gun smith..
I'm mechanically inclined, but have not done a lot with rifle modification, just shot a lot..
Thank you in advance
GC

Yes, you will have to replace the gas block. Based on your questions, I would recommend a gun smith.

By the way, that hand guard is designed for a .308 upper. It is unlikely to fit a 5.56/.223.

Make sure your new gas block is pinned. I've seen several blow forward that were "attached" with set screws. It's always very interesting if it's not yours.

If the set screws are torqued properly the gas block won't move. Add some red Loctite and they'll never move. I've done three myself and helped with several more. None have moved in thousands of rounds.
Even so, pinned is better.
Yes, you can do this yourself. Look on the Brownell's website for videos on gas block replacement. It's a lot easier than it looks.
No need to spend big bucks on a low profile gas block. There's no real precision there other than the barrel diameter. Any $30 gas block will perform fine.

What AR manufactures pin their low profile gas blocks under a free float handguard?

I know one that doesn't for sure... and I was quite surprised!
