Picked up mine few days ago, now I'm looking for a red dot that can be set for full co-witness with the S2 site post and the flip rear site.
Kinda want to keep it in the $200 range Max.
Have been looking at some Vortex and Primary Arms.

So, what say you?

I put a Vortex Sparc 2 on mine and like it a lot. The mount it comes with can be set up for absolute co-witness or lower 1/3 co-witness.

I am using the Bushnell TRS-25 on mine at it works great. Truglo has one out that is reviewed by "baretta9mmusa" on Youtube. Both co-witness perfectly.

I put the Primary Arms Advanced Micro Dot on mine. Along with a medium height riser and Magpul MBUI rear sight, it gives absolute co-witness.

I have a Vortex SPARC AR on mine. Absolute or lower 1/3 cowitness are both available with the built in mount depending on which components you choose to use. Mine came perfectly centered from the get go - of course that may or may not be the case for others. So far it's been excellent.

The $25 no-name one that my son got off of eBay has worked fine so far. It was very difficult to adjust, but once we did get it adjusted, it has pointed true and held its zero consistently.

My other son opted for a bolt-on carry handle and he uses the iron sights on it.

If you are serious about security and don't want to spend AimPoint dollars. This is the only way to go. A second choice would be the Vortex StrikeFire, a 1 x 6 scope that when set at one power can ALMOST be used as a red dot since it's reticle is etched.

Thats the Vortex Strike Eagle on the 1-6 scope. Strike Fire is a red dot. Got one last week, and yes, made in China. No problem.

I was in this predicament earlier this year, looked them all over in that $200- range. And went with the ever unpopular Sightmark M-Spec that I snagged with a coupon off Optics Planet. And if they never sell another one, I won't care because mine has been awesome.

Much like the guy up above said about the cheap red dot his son got, if it works, whats the problem? Its a red dot, not a crisp clear riflescope. It doesn't have to be a $700 aimpoint to get the job done. What you end up with is basically what your budget/wants allow. I looked over the Sparc, Strikefire II, and Romeo 5 and then went back to the Sightmark because I'd had a cheaper Sightmark in the past and really like it. The M-Spec was just a better version of what I had.

If you spend $150-200 on any of those red dots mentioned, I don't think you will go wrong. I will say this much, my StrikeFire II does have kind of a fuzzy dot. Don't focus on the dot, focus on the target and its not that bad, but its noticeable when you are playing with it in the house. The Sightmark (which people hate) is as clean as can be. And also 2MOA. The lesser Sightmarks however do have their issues, and I likely would not recommend them. I do like that Sparc II though.

If you want a Vortex and have a $200 budget...

Palmetto has the Sparc + 10 30rd PMAGS for $200. If you just got the rifle maybe you need some magazines. If so, this deal is about as good as it gets.

If you have a red dot and the dot looks like a bunch of grapes or has a short comet tail off of it, take it and rotate it, while looking through it. If the tail or grapes stay put, you have astigmatism, if they move with the rotation, it's the scope. I can't use red dots, for this reason, but a prism scope, works just dandy.

My buddy, Disabled1 (On Holiday until the 26th), did a write up or posted about a FIELDSPORT red dot that was like $15-$20. The guy that was in the video tortured it pretty good and it held up.
What exactly are you going to use it for, to shoot at paper, or hunting? For $200 I would buy a scope. But, that's me.

Aimpoint pro

I put a Holosun 503C on my SportII. I prefer a circle dot reticle and an Eotech costs more than my what I paid for my rifle. The Holosun is nice and still keeps you in the 150-200 price range. I am waiting for the new Sig Romeo XDR which has a circle dot reticle and uses a AAA battery but those havent hit the market yet.

I have a Strikefire II and a Primary Arms Advanced. Both are good choices for different reasons. The warranty on the Vortex is extremely good. The battery life on the PA Advanced is a big asset. If I was going to go with just one at this point I'd probably go with the PA Advanced but there are good reasons to go the other way instead.

These aren't sights you can take to war with you but they will do pretty well on a rifle that spends most of it's life in a safe or sitting ready in the corner.

Well, I've narrowed it down to 3.
PA Adv.FullSize30mm, PA Adv.MicroDot
and Vortex DrikeFire II Red Dot.

Probably will go with Vortex...Midway has special starting Sunday...$179.00 with $50 Midway Gift Card.

Vortex red dots are a good value, won't break the bank, and have a unconditional lifetime guarantee. I have the vortex strike fire, and am very happy with it.

I second this, I would have purchased but I watched the backpage ads and found a NIB Aimpoint Pro for 300.

If you have the patience do the same you will save huge dollars.

I just bought 620 rounds of federal XM193 for 80 dollars.......12 cents a round........patience is your friend.

The Tru Glo Red Dot is a rebranded Holosun 503G. IMHO it is the best Aimpoint T-1 clone available because of it's price point which is currently $116 on Amazon.

It is also a 2 MOA Red Dot which I prefer to the larger 3 or 4 MOA dots found on many other popular models. It's all personal preference but I don't want to give up longer range accuracy since with the 2 MOA dot I can dial down the brightness and be good to go where the dot doesn't cover so much of the target at longer distances, therefore allowing for smaller groups at say 100-200 yards.

I have a strikefire 2. Love the thing to death. The vortex warranty is what keeps me buying their products. Picked up a diamondback hp 3-12 recently for stupidly cheap and I'm not worried about replacing anything from Vortex that breaks

I just ordered a Sparc II for my sport.
