A little searching turned up versions by trijicon, holosun/sig, truglo, eotech. Any special reason for going that route?

How much (or how little) do you want to spend?

I have one of these $19.99 red dot sights:

mounted on a Savage Axis. The dot is 3moa and is perfectly fine for the distances I shoot (up to 200 yards). This is NOT a robust battle sight, but for a rifle that is only carted to/from the range in a padded case and then taken into the deer woods once a year, it is good enough and holds a zero very well.

If I were looking for a battle sight, I would pay the money and go with an eotech, but for something I would actually carry into a gunfight, I prefer to rely on iron sights.

If it's going on a rifle, I had one of these on my Ruger 10/22 and it was very fast for Steel Challenge. Vortex Spitfire 1X prism scope. You could use it with or without the illumination. Check out the reticle tab.

EOTech is offering $75 rebates.

Amazon is selling the EOTech 512.65, 1moa dot 65moa ring, for $373. Less the rebate you're at $300.

I use a Burris AR-332 on one of my carbines. The center dot is .66 mils / 2.23 MOA, and the inside of the outer circle is 7 mils / 23.6 MOA (25" at 100 yards).

The AR-332 performs very well and is often referred to as the "poor man's ACOG".

I have a Tru Glo that has been working great for a couple thousand rounds now. Just like any... once you find that sweet spot for mounting don't forget to put some sort of loc tite on each mounting screw.
